No need for C clamp to push brake calipers. This tool save makes your job easier and quicker. Heavy duty and quality build. Nice to have if you end up doing lots of brake work on your vehicle. Nice tool!

I go these to do some car repairs and a few other projects and they worked in both tasks. For changing out brakes they made it go a lot better than last time and I am super impress how much difference this one little tool can make. I am glad to have them in my tool bag and will not every want to do brake changes without them again.

I used to use the c-clamp method for compressing caliper pistons... it worked but was always a headache, often there wasn't a convenient place to push against on the back of the caliper, either no flat spot, the brake hose/fitting got in the way, or worse, powder coating that you don't want to mark up.I got one of the standard screw compressors with the plate... it worked better than a clamp but was slow...I got one of the ones with the 2 plates and the ratcheting handle- it was more work to set up but once you got it set it was really good, and still my go-to for multi-piston calipers- IF it fits. I've found a lot of calipers that it won't fit in.This thing- SIMPLE and Fast to set up, simple and fast to use, you just need a little grip strength. At this point, this is my go-to for single-piston calipers, and it will do dual-piston calipers if you leave the inside pad in. For larger/more race car stuff I still go to one of the others, but for the most part, this is the one I reach for first and will do most "normal" cars and a few not so normal.

I purchased this item for a project I am planning this spring, to replace the brakes on my 2022 KIA Soul. My car has all around disk brakes and this item will come in handy when I do that job. I like this item because it saves me from having to remove the brake lines when and re-bleed my brake fluid for air bubbles. If you work on cars, you also know that with new ABS systems it isn't recommended to do the brakes on your own as air in the system can damage ABS systems or cause faults if done improperly.This tool will allow me to compress the caliper easily at the wheel/spindle without having to disconnect fluid lines to take to a bench to compress with other tools.This compressor is easy to use and is very similar to a caulk gun. The ratcheting mechanism locks in, and when you squeeze the trigger the protruding bolt device moves forward. This machine is excellent for small cars and trucks that use Disk brakes and is not for use with cars equipped with drum brakes.After inspecting the item, I found that the device is partially made of plastic, but not a normal plastic. This is a highly durable plastic, very similar to plastics found in Composite Bows, and other high durability requiring items. The plastic is solid and does not flex and is only found in the handles.All of the other mechanical parts are high durability metal and are corrosion resistant. This item should last a long time with appropriate care.NOTE: Like with all tools, this item may require some oil to prevent rust and corrosion.NOTE: This item may need specialized use, and general mechanical knowledge to use correctly.Overall, I found that the machine works correctly and should be a value when doing my upcoming brake job. I will repost when I've done the repair and had more use of the item.

I've used a giant c-clamp on brake jobs for decades. Was intrigued by having a dedicated tool to compress pistons. It came without instructions, which is fine for the most part. However, almost every brake job I've ever done requires an initial clamping of the caliper to break it free. I could not figure out how to use this tool to do so.After using the c-clamp to break the caliper free, this tool made quick work of compressing the piston. There's not a lot of leverage when manipulating the tool, so it does require a good amount of hand strength. It's lightweight, does it's job, and will keep.
