I have had a few different brands over the years, some of which were rather expensive. I find this one as easy to use as any of the others, but easier to rotate than some. The flexibility of the tape itself is comparable to the others, and behaves very much the same. This is well-priced for the length that you are getting, but I must say that a pull that uses that full length will need a bit of strength and potentially contain a lot of tension if there are a number of bends. I have not used it for anywhere near that length and can only say that it is well-suited for a pull of about 40 feet, offering no difficulty. Another thing that I noticed was that the trigger seemed to be considerably more effective than the other reels that I have had. This was very pleasing!I would have no reservations about getting another one of these if this one breaks (my last one was lost in a fire).

This review is for islewire brand 240 ft. Electrical Fish Tape, 1/8-Inch Steel Wire Puller with Formed Hook, Easy-to-Use Cable Puller Tool with Ergonomic Handle & Durable Housing for Walls and Electrical Conduit. The steel wire-puller was delivered on-time, complete, as-described by the seller and packaged in a custom cardboard box. The contents comprise the puller reel and tape, a pair of safety work gloves and an instruction guide. The fish tape is housed in a circular, sturdy plastic frame which rotates under the handle to feed and retrieve the tape. The handle has a trigger-grip brake to apply pressure as needed. The tape itself is high tensile steel, 240 ft. long and with a rectangular cross-section of 1/8” by 1/16”; this provides the required strength and flexibility for use in conduit. The head of the tape has a double loop with which to securely attach the electrical wire to be pulled. I have completed a few household DIY wiring projects without the benefit of a quality fish tape; I am confident that this islewire puller will add substantial value to my future wiring projects.

Needed a snake to pull a network cable through a 160ft pipe. This one worked great. I swear I paid more for the 50ft one I have from the big box stores years ago. The snake wire is a good size to push on without bending it and the hook loop very usable.

Fish tape pushed and pulled inside conduits the same as an old green brand one I have. Did not have any issues with the tip binding up being caught. The steel itself is comparable to any I have used. The case of the unit is ergonomic and so far has held up. Unwinds and winds with ease. The stopper button / tab of the reel is helpful when pulling cable. I probably am going to break it at some point as I always seem to be a tad aggressive on some cable pulls. It unwinds and winds back up just like all the others. It is fairly new yet so of course I am happy with how it is more useful now. Wait until a few years later and will have to comment on how it is then after all the pulls and dirt subjected to it. I also like it for its longer length that it provides at 240 feet.Only gripe: There is no length written on it anywhere...not even in meters! So I stenciled "240'" on it now.

Recently I made the decision to run ethernet throughout the house. From modem/router in one office, up into the attic, and spidering out into the rest of the house. If you've never done it, running wire behind sheetrock is an absolute nightmare. Enter this tool. It makes running those wires so easy. Like, almost no trouble at all.Using this tool was so easy, in fact, that after I was done with the ethernet, I went looking for other wires to snake. Those unsightly camera power cords? Gone. The tv and peripherals? Gone. I almost wish I had more electronics mounted to the walls so that I could use it some more.Highly recommended.

I had a lighter weight version (from someone else) previously, and it really didn't work well -- ok, fine on clear openings, but how often do you get that luxury?).This is a nicely packaged tape. You've got the bright case, which feels like it can handle some bumping around. It has a large handle with a brake trigger. The tape comes out smoothly without a lot of effort. And it rolls back into its housing just as easily. I have not tested if there are actually 240' in there, but there is a fair amount. You will notice the weight when it arrives. 240' with that gauge of steel puts the unit at around six lbs. Not terrible by any means, but noticeable. The instruction booklet isn't long, but really doesn't need to be. If you know how to connect a wire to a fishing tape, you're 90% of the way there anyway. My only disappointment (though I didn't need it) was that the instructions focused on the model I didn't have. So, taking it out of the box, I was looking for an attachment that isn't part of the steel version.Gloves. Ok, I'll admit it, I don't know why more and more products are including gloves. I suppose it's nice, but I already have really nice gloves. I suppose if you don't have anything, it's a nice add. But most electricians are already going to have what they want there. I ignored the gloves (other than talking about them here!)Overall, this is a great replacement for what I was using, and the price at time I received this was well in line with competing products.

I’ve been using this 240 ft electrical fish tape for various wiring projects, and it performs exceptionally well. The tape’s flexibility allows it to navigate tight bends and conduits without getting stuck or damaged. The well-formed double-loop pulling head securely holds the wire, minimizing the risk of losing it during tricky pulls—just ensure the wire is tightly secured. The ergonomic handle offers a solid grip, and the built-in thumb lock keeps everything steady while reeling. The tough, impact-resistant casing feels built to last. If you need a dependable wire puller for tough jobs, this is a great option.
