Nice set but both sharpeners that came with it stopped sharpening after about 5 uses which makes it hard to use the actual pencil. Probably should’ve stuck with the other well known brand.

The Mechanical Carpenter Pencil Set with Sharpener has a lot in this zippered bag set. I think you could divide it out for two stocking stuffers for carpenter draft architect or landscape designer in your life or give to one for a long last gift. Everything in the pouch has a purpose, being useful.I especially like the different colors and variety of items. The price is good too for all that comes in the set. For someone who uses these this would be a great item since it has many small tools and pencils in one set. Also, a practical gift that is sure to please.

The Mechanical Pencil/Holder Set arrived very well packaged and undamaged two days after ordering, with Form, Fit and Function appearing Very Good: 1. The variety and quality of graphite/lead is good: 54 each and SIX different colors of 2.0 mm - black, white, yellow, red, green and blue, and three different colors of 2.8 mm - black, yellow red, plus black lead in each holder. Very useful for marking on various shades of paper, metal, plastic, rubber, wood or any other material to ensure visibility and/or instruction. 2. The lead pencils/holders are good quality. The three each 2.0 mm holders appear sufficient for medium use, contain a rotating dial to differentiate between different lead hardnesses, and have a ratcheting mechanism to release the lead in small and smooth increments. The three each 2.8 mm holders appear sufficient for average use and provide smooth operation (NOTE - yellow holder does have problems ejecting lead), have a ratcheting mechanism to release the lead in small and smooth increments, and contain built in lead sharpeners in each top as well as a long neck on the lead end to allow for accessing tight locations. Three colors for each size of lead holder - black, red and yellow - are provided to assist in designating which color of lead is contained within the pencil. All lead holders come with attachment/pocket clips. All functioned very well during testing with the exception of the 2.8 mm Yellow. 3. Sharpeners for each size of lead are provided, and although small and not overly sturdy, should provide for many uses if cared for properly. 4. The three ink markers - black, red and yellow - provide deep colors for marking on various types of material and possess a long neck on the ink end to allow for accessing tight locations. 5. The metal scribe is well built and the etching end appears to be hardened metal which should allow for many uses. It appears sufficient material exists on the scribe end for it to be sharpened if/when it becomes dull - it does not appear to be replaceable. The tool is heavily knurled to ensure a firm grip is possible. No damage was noted during testing. 6. The center punch is also well built and is spring loaded for release of the punch to eliminate the need for a striking tool as with solid punches. The punch can be used on various material types and is knurled to ensure a firm grip is possible. A spare tip is included and can easily be installed by unscrewing the top/bottom. No damage was noted during testing. 7. A lead eraser is provided and initial use indicates it removes marks well without smearing or heavy pressure. 8. A pouch for all components is provided, and although quality may be lacking, it does provide a storage solution and is obviously not the main purpose for the purchase of this marking set.This is a Very Good set of marking tools and will definitely provide for the needs of engineers and architects as well as carpenters, metal workers, and other trades. That said, it is questionable if the set would be applicable to heavy field or rigorous daily use. Regardless, the set is RECOMMENDED for light and medium office/field use - one star is removed due to malfunctioning holder and questionable heavy use.
