I've tested with multiple different waters I had and seems to work. When tested with soda the ph goes very low. When tested with my boiling water, the carbon is a bit high and I found out there's actually a lot of carbonate on the bottom of my kettle. But The color is actually a bit hard to read, especially if it fells between two colors. It's hard to tell which color it is actually match up too.

How can you tell if your drinking water is safe? This 22-in-1 Drinking Water Test Kit is your first line of defense. It will allow you to check for 22 different contaminants. You can test for nitrates, sulfites, metals, bacteria, and other properties such as pH, hardness, and alkalinity. The instructions are clear and the testing process is easy. It’s all color-coded. My husband is a water tech/chemist, and he thinks this is a good home testing kit. But he suggests that the manufacturer should consider posting a step-by-step instruction video on their website, as well as blank pdf log pages for customers to record their results so they can keep track over time.If you use well water, the general rule of thumb is to test your water at least once a year for common contaminants like bacteria and nitrates. Testing is also recommended after replacing or upgrading any part of your well system or water pipes. This kit makes it really convenient, since you get instant results and you don’t have to send a sample to a lab. If you use city tap water, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to test it, either, especially if you notice any change in taste, odor, or appearance. As with most home kits, if you get a high result, it’s up to you to decide what to do about it. That’s when you might take it to an outside laboratory for further analysis.

They work, but with so many tests on one strip, it's tough to decipher them all before they start changing color again.
