It is not that easy to be nstall if you have rocks in uour garden. It needs joint covers.

I got this product to keep squirrels from going under my shed. I must say that these plates work great. They feel very well made. Installation was easy for me since soft dirt. If have hard dirt just make sure to water it a few times and for a couple days. Overall I recommend this product.

This Galvanized Steel Landscape Edging is heavy duty. The metal is solid, with sharp spikes that make it easy to hammer into the ground.I ordered this edging to place along the bottom of our vinyl fence. We recently adopted a puppy that likes to dig, so this keeps her from digging under the fence. The easiest way to install it, is after a good rainstorm, or by getting the ground wet. Our dirt is so hard and packed, that I had to use plenty of water to soften it, then they were fairly easy to hammer in. I used a small 2x4 block between the edging and hammer to protect the steel.I ordered two different brands of this edging, which are very similar, but this one has spikes that are one inch longer, and the steel is stronger than the other brand.I'm very pleased with the look and quality of this edging. Highly recommended.

I ordered these to create a raised border in between my sidewalk and my hydrangea garden. I needed to add rocks to cover the irrigation hoses. The border is curved and I was worried these would be difficult to bend to install. That was not the case at all. They slid in easily and connected without too much of an effort. The tops did get dented a bit when I was hammering them in place but it’s not too obvious. The pieces came packaged nicely and were individually wrapped so they wouldn’t get scratched. Gloves included as well. A nice subtle look that creates function with too much of a fuss.

Unlike a lot of similar landscape edging, these were delivered unbent - just straight-as-an-arrow metal pieces with spikes. Which was perfect since my use case is to help hold up decorative pavers I put down around my patio, which is all lined up perfectly straight. The first piece I put in the ground was also the one encountering the most resistance because of the location and type of soil, so I had to get a little inventive with hammering it down but after bringing in the heavy artillery (a fence post driver) I got it down as deep as I needed it. Through no fault of this item that did end up causing a slight bulge in one part, but that was just the ground under it causing a deviation from the straight line - the rest of that piece stayed perfectly straight and is now holding up my decorative pavers. The rest of them went (or are going, it's a work in progress) into much looser soil where this is not going to be an issue.

Since there is a woods full of poison ivy and weeds behind our backyard, I use this steel landscape edging to create a short barrier between my grass and the wilderness. It helps slow the encroachment. And since my yard ends with a minor trend to a downward slope, so it doesn't stand out as too noticeable in most spots. It was very easy to push into the ground and link together (after a rainy day when the ground was still pliable), and the metal itself is strong.

This is quality metal edging - thick metal that does not bend easily or unintentionally. Each panel is over 40", to account for when the panels overlap. The panels were well packaged with a foam wrap separating each. No scratches. The complimentary gloves were a nice bonus (although the metal edges are not so sharp that you might easily cut your skin). The instructions indicate that you need to dig a trench the total height of the edging (i.e. 8" for the product I have), and that the height of each panel should align with the point where the soil meets the grass. However, I wanted to use the edging to separate a garden area from the lawn, and therefore to have the top 2-3" of edging above the soil line. I found that digging a deep trench was not feasible. So (after a few rainy days) I used a flat shovel to create a "deep" fissure in the soil along the entire length of the garden border, with an inch or two of "trench" at the surface. I relied on pushing/pounding to get the panel in to the fissure. As suggested, I placed a piece of 2 x 4 on the top edge, and hammered that. (Where I missed the mark one time, the black coating of the metal came off, so I expect it will eventually rust there. Oh well.) The only issue that I encountered is that the panel didn't sink in evenly - one end would go in and force the other end up. This was only a problem in that two panels are supposed to link to each other through a "clip" in the overlap region. Trying to link two panels was not as easy as I expected it to be, and keeping them linked was a continuing effort. This is the only reason that I dinged the product a star. There is a tab in the overlap region that you can bend to help secure adjacent panels. That is all well and good if you use the product as per the directions, where one side of edging is exposed to air, but that is not how I wanted to use it (or how most people would use it, I speculate). The tab is inaccessible when under dirt. Overall, I think this is a good product and recommend it. I do not have experience with other metal edging, and so do not know if it is a "step above" or not.

I had to soak the ground to pound these in because the soil here is concrete when its dry. After the ground was ready I connected them together and started to form the metal to the curves I wanted. After I used a block of wood to pound them in I went back and cleaned up any grass that was on the inside of the edging. This really cleans up the look and keeps lawns where you want it.
