Here are several unsafe/misuse scenarios involving electric immersion water heaters

  • Dry Boiling Without Water Immersion or Partial Submersion

Risk: Operating the device without fully submerging the heating coil in liquid.

Consequence: Rapid overheating, melting of internal components, and potential fire ignition.

  • Using Non-Heat-Resistant Containers

Example: Glass jars, plastic cups, or thin-walled metal pots not rated for high temperatures.

Hazard: Container cracking/spilling boiling water or leaching toxic chemicals (e.g., BPA from plastics).

  • Overloading Electrical Circuits

Violation: Plugging multiple high-wattage devices (e.g., microwave + heater) into the same 15-amp household circuit.

Result: Circuit breaker tripping, wire insulation damage, or outlet fires.

  • Unattended Operation

Negligence: Leaving the heater active while sleeping or away from the immediate area.

Outcome: Delayed response to boiling over, leaks, or smoke emission.

  • Voltage Incompatibility

Mistake: Connecting 220V-designed units to U.S. 120V outlets (or vice versa) without a converter.

Danger: Power surges, accelerated wear, or instant burnout.

The heater works ok so far. The temperature prob doesn’t work but not worth the hassle of sending it back.

I use this to get the hot tube water nice and hot. Takes forever to heat a full tub. But if your using it to make the water hotter without raising your boilers thermostat it is worth the value. Also use it to get sink water to a really nice temperature when washing dishes, as I like to keep my water heater in the house to warm to conserve energy. So I use it more like a booster. Also use it to get water hot for mopping floors so my floors dry fast, and it get them cleaner.

High rating because this worked and helped me to shower comfortably while dealing with plumbing issues. However, if your like me and don't want to stand there and watch water boil for 20min.... you might want to get one with a temp/time setting. This did not burn my home down. Very grateful for that. But it did burn itself out after I forgot it was on. Didnt even damage the plastic bucket. Wow! Product works great as designed to work.

I’ve used this about 5 times and it’s been a life saver because I haven’t had hot water. I’ve been filling the tub up about 4-5 inches and it took roughly a hour or so to heat. Well tonight the end of it exploded and it melted my bathtub. I don’t know what order it happened but now I’m going to have to replace my bathtub because of this thing!

Used 3 times and stopped working. Tripps breaker immediately when plugged in now. Eligible for return but only through UPS not Canada Post and theres no UPS in our area! So if I want a refund I need to pay for return shipping which is ridiculous! After long process of shipping back and getting Amazon to crediting me for shipping costs was contacted by sellar and given fill refund.

This review is after a couple of uses, so durability is not accounted for. I promise if it breaks I’ll be back to update this.First of all, ignore the claims of heating in a few minutes, and the reviews that hate on that. It is true, they mislabeled that in the product description and I knew that because physics. I don’t know if that is a mistranslation or done on purpose, but it takes longer. That being said, it IS fast.I use this for home brewing beer.Brewing a 5 gallon batch, I was able to bring my strike water (4 gallons total strike) to 165F in about 35 mins from 68F out of my tap. On par if not a bit faster than my propane burner, burned no gas and didn’t have to babysit as close. After mashing in, I dropped it in my hot liquor tank and was able to get my sparge water to 180F from 68F in the 1 hour mash time. Was a great fly sparge, great extraction, less fuss, zero propane burned. Win. I still use propane for the boil.Notes, it tells you don’t touch the water. Not sure if that is a heat safety concern or a shock concern. I’ll put a multimeter across it someday when I have time to set up a safe test rig. Don’t touch the water tho. Also it is a high current device. I use it in my shop on a 20 amp circuit that I know nothing else is running on. Don’t use multiple in the same circuit ever, and if you have a 15 amp circuit it may throw the breaker, especially if something else shares the circuit. Don’t use an extension cord.I love it for home brew.

I bought 2 and they both died after a month or so. If you only left it on for a hour or so it might last longer Spend the extra $30 and get one with a built in thermostat to regulate temperature

I use this in a full 3-gallon bucket, submerged, to heat water for dishes in about 10-12 minutes. I use this in the summer at a place where there is no hot water and it works amazingly well. I saw one of these used in a tiny house as the source to heat up water for a shower in a 5-gallon bucket and then the person used one of those rechargeable shower pumps for a shower. Great idea. This would have lots of great applications - getting hot water to do outdoor chores like cleaning bird feeders, etc. Works great.
