About this item

  • Worlds Smallest Spoon Currant Tomato Seeds, Early, Heirloom NON-GMO, Rare, Early, Vigorous, Sweet, Indeterminate, Open-Pollinated, Delicious! 62 days.
  • Keep moist, not letting the seeds dry out between watering. **SOIL Temperature for Germination: 70-75F. Planting Depth: 1/4". Sprout tomato seeds in small containers, preferably 4" or smaller. In-ground germination is not recommended. Use a standard potting mix that is well drained.
  • Start seeds in containers approximately 8 weeks prior to the planned set-out date. Plants should ultimately be transplanted to the garden 1-2 weeks after the expected date of last frost. Soil should be kept consistently warm, from 70-85F. Cool soils, below about 60-65F, even just at night, will significantly delay or inhibit germination. Additionally, overly warm soils, well above 90F, can inhibit germination and provide ideal conditions for seed rot.
  • Over watering can cause fungal growth which leads to seed rot. Excess water can also bury seeds deep in the soil where they will not be able break the surface. Water when the soil surface just begins to dry.
  • Multiple seeds can be planted in a single starter container, but should be thinned once seedlings appear so only a single plant remains. Seeds do not require light for germination but some light source should be provided for seedlings once they emerge from the soil.

Lycopersicon esculentum -- Worlds Smallest Spoon Currant Tomato! What a cutie! We instantly fell in love with this delightfully tiny tomato. Its miniscule leaves, flowers and 1/4 inch, red fruit are the teeniest we've seen. Deceptively big on sweet, curranty flavor, they are a treat in salads, as a garnish or right off the plant by the handfuls! Spoon tomato is a charming, semi-determinate plant with a low, spreading habit that lends itself to container living and especially to hanging baskets. 62 days from transplant. HOW TO GROW: Once a few true leaves have developed, seedlings should be slowly moved outside (if sprouted indoors) to ambient light. Care should be taken not to expose seedlings to direct, scorching sun so plants may need to be hardened off via slow sun exposure. Hardening off can be done using a shaded or filtered light location, as well as protection from strong winds, rain or low humidity. Hardening off time varies, but can take 5-10 days. *** **SOIL Temperature for Germination: 70F **Plant Spacing: 3'-4'. **Hardiness: Zones 4-10 **Sun Requirement: Full Sun, **Days to Germination: 7-14 days under optimal conditions, **Germination Rate: 95%

The seeds arrived very quickly, my husband started them in his green house the next day. So far, everything has sprouted and are doing well. I think, because of their size we will transfer them to pots instead of the garden. At this time, we feel they are high quality and will probably buy from this seller next year.

I had great success with the seeds. I sprouted them indoors. Plants are healthy and robust. However, the size is more comparable to a cherry tomato instead of tiny spoons.

Update: These little guys are super prolific!!! They will grow to places you didn't even know you had so be sure to plant them off in their own little corner of the world. However, the produce sooo much fruit and are the sweetest little tomato I have ever tried. Will buy again!!A few years ago, my friend planted some tomatoes on our land. They were the most delicious little things. After a few years, and some research, I discovered they were called teaspoon tomatoes. I was so excited to find them on amazon. They shipped fast, which was necessary for me, because I was already a little behind in planting them. I quickly planted them in a few leftover pods we had on hand. These little guys germinated quickly! This is the progress at 11 days! I will continue to update, but so far I am impressed with how many seeds germinated. My husband counted over 40 little plants. We have not had the best of luck this year with planting, so I am so excited they seem to be fairing well so far. We live in Iowa (zone 5). Excited to see how they progress!
