I just wanted to detect when an object was rotated from horizontal to vertical. I wanted the horizontal position to be fail-safe, that is; current stops flowing when moved off horizontal or the wire is cut. The problem is the contact is so poor that the slightest vibration causes the resistance to skyrocket, even open circuit. If there is any vibration at all it never stops "bouncing". If you're doing this in software it's not a big deal to ignore all that noise but in hardware I needed at least a 2 second RC constant to not cause false triggers. It's a long way from a mercury switch. There's no comparison at all. No surprise really. A BB weighs nothing and at best has point contact on the wall of the tube. Got it to work but lesson learned.

These are very handy components to have on hand for the home electronics enthusiast! A ball-tilt switch can be used for a wide variety of projects - virtually endless opportunities for neat diy gadgets using programmable microprocessors. No problems or issues, these switches work very nicely and seem to be a great value overall. Recommended!

These tilt switches from ThtRht come in a 20-pack of SW-200D switches. I've tested them all, and found no issues. I can't see how they would be effective in an application where they would be shaken, but for identifying when an object is tilted past a few degrees or so, they are appropriate.

Look, a lot of these values you’ll never use but at the price, who cares. Basically, very low price for the normal values. Spot checked values with Fluke meter. They are within tolerance so good quality and value
