Really like them and they are good for the money however, they continually switch from outside air temp to refrigerator or freezer temp. I don’t need to know the temp of the outside air and have to wait to see if my freezer temp is okay. We have a farm and I use many of these and need to know temps quickly. Would be nice if you could shut off that function so, you don’t run the battery down.

Both devices malfunctioned within a day of each other at just over a month in service. Both went into error mode. Turning them off ( by pulling batteries) reset them, but alarms will no longer set. Changing out the batteries did not help. They are delivering temperatures, for now, but alarm function is done. Save yourself the trouble and buy another brand.

This product is faulty. Whether it is set for Fahrenheit or Celsius it will flip to the other (at last daily) then when you try to switch it back it will error out and you have to remove the battery to get it reset. The you have to go through the process of setting your upper and lower limits again only for it to mess up again later that day or the following. Would not recommend.

The Good: Nice looking, clear display, reasonably accurate - within a degree or so compared with trusted thermometers. Decently built. Comes with an AAA battery (although it’s a mystery as to whether it’s an alkaline). The magnet on the back seems strong enough to stick reliably to the fridge, and the foldaway stand works well. There’s also a hanging hole, and a suction cup that can be attached. The Not-So-Good: The instructions are minimal, in small print, on a tiny paper. The battery door is hard to remove without a tool. No way to turn the device off without removing the battery. Apparently there is no way to disable the alarms, except by setting the alarm temperatures to extremes. When they sound, pressing the buttons will temporarily stop them. Both the ambient and probe sensors are quite slow to respond to temperature changes. With the probe disconnected, the display will only show the ambient temperature, and the current alarm settings. Once the probe is connected, the display alternates about every five seconds between the ambient temperature and the probe temperature. There’s no way to change it, and the flashing change is somewhat annoying.Despite what seems to be implied in the directions, the alarm minimum and maximum settings for the ambient and probe temperatures can’t be adjusted independently. One setting seems to apply to both. The instructions are confusing.I’m planning to use these in a chest freezer and in a fridge. I want to check that they are working properly, and when the power goes out (all too often), I’ll know, without opening the doors, when the inside temperature has dropped to the point where I need to hook up the generator. They should work for that purpose, but I’m a little concerned that the gaskets won’t seal well around the round probe cable. I can’t feel cold air at the gasket, but I’d be happier with a thinner, flatter cable.

After building out our family's walk-in refrigerator using the Coolbot system, I wanted to install a secondary (backup) early warning device/monitoring system to give us an audible warning in case the refrigerator door is left ajar, or the Coolbot system itself were ever to fail. This little digital thermometer solved this problem for me, as it has both a low- and high-limit setting, which triggers a warning alarm on both sides, if desired. The audible sound is very noticeable, which is great and it was easy to set up, although I did not rely on the internal battery. Instead, I built a voltage regulator that I wired into a junction box, providing continual low voltage to the unit, avoiding the need to worry about failed batteries. So far, I love the setup and will provide future updates to this review, if the LCD panel itself fails, or any other concerns arise. Until then, I highly recommend this set.
