This black catalpa wood is very pretty, and adds to the enjoyment of the process...which inevitably leads to a better result. These have a very solid level footprint and enough weight to sit very steady. I'm a professional artist and use a lot of paintbrushes and pencils. I work at a large table, have a habit of setting down pencils or brushes in a haphazard way so eventually the table is covered with pens and brushes in no order at all, and I can't find the one I need. These brush rests are a beautiful way to encourage a tiny bit of organization while holding your brushes safely so you know where they are, they don't get ink all over, and their bristles aren't harmed. Pencils and pens are right there in a recognizable place. All this for a great price.

These calligraphy/brush holders are nice. They have some weight to them so they stay in place and stay upright. The design keeps the brushes separate and keeps the brush tips elevated so it doesn't make a mess. I like them, it is useful while painting. Though simple, these work and are well made.

Great at keeping tools handy and not rolling away. A wider base would be nice to keep them from falling over, but it's still nice.
