Do your animals a favor and hold onto the tag as you use this to cut the tag off. While the blade is sharp, without holding the tag to be removed the jerking causes pain to your animal depending on the brand of tag you are removing.

I primarily use these for cutting strings on hay bales, and it always seems like I've misplaced one. These are essentially buy-on-get-one for a product that is as good or better than what you get at your local feed store. They're sturdy, brightly colored (so you can see it if you drop it in the hay), and sharp enough to take care of any small fiddly cutting you need to do, be it baling twine or plastic ear tags or vetwrap. And when you do eventually misplace or wear one out, you have a backup handy!
