Works great for us, heavy duty extra thick iron. Keeps temperature down of back of bricks in fireplace and radiants heat to room great. It is very heavy, definitely a 2 person job

This is truly an awesome fireback! It's heavy, which is good because it'll retain and reflect heat. The construction seems top notch, however buyers need to know that the "feet" protrude 5 inches and the fireback rests in the feet and tilts backwards about 3" from bottom to top so you better make sure that your fireplace is deep enough to accommodate this item. Unfortunately my fireplace is only 20" deep and my grate is 17" deep, which would have place the grate at the front on top of the glass doors so I had to return it. But if it fits, then this is an awesome product!!

This plate seems to make the temperature stay more consistent as the amount of firewood changes as it burns. I have a weather station by my chair which also monitors the indoor temp, and I've noticed the temp fluctuates more slowly now that the plate is there. One of the benefits I read in the reviews prior to buying it was an increase in heat reflected out into the room. I have not felt that, nor does the thermometer reflect that during burning. However, the plate does continue to radiate heat into the room for much longer after the fire dies down.

I reached out to the seller three weeks ago because my fireback discolored after the first use. I haven't heard back yet, so I don't expect a reply. I'm disappointed in the general appearance after one use. The fire didn't feel noticeably warmer and smelled like chemicals, but the fireback added nice decoration (until it turned orange).Update: The seller reached out and told me that the discoloration is normal.

This is a decent weight but not too heavy where it's difficult to move around. It's solid and will definitely protect your carpets or your wood floor from embers.
