Cuts perfect holes in aluminum, I’m using it to make special holes in self storage building industry, recommend it for heavy duty use.

Highly recommend it, I this use several sizes in a 8mm thick metal plate and it works perfect, cutting like butter.Recommend use it in a vertical drill press….

This will not cut as deep of a hole as a bimetal hole saw but it will cut quicker and a much cleaner hole. The carbide will last a lot longer too. Just make sure to use a lubricant when cutting. These are one step below an annular cutter (but not by much). They take up more room because they don't use a removable mandrel but those mandrels either fit loosely so the saw wobbles a bit or they end up screwed onto the saw so tight you fight to get it off.If you want to use these in a hand drill (I would advise against it) don't use the drill bit. The problem is the pilot bit tends to catch and break. Once it does the saw will walk across your work leaving lots of marks. Instead use a smooth rod of the same diameter for the saws pilot bit. Pre drill the hole with the supplied bit for the rod.

I used this bit to drill hole through galvanized metal (10 and 14 gauge) and tried to use it on thin metal sheeting.IT works great on thicker metal, but good, It can easily stall a small drill, so use a heavy duty drill. It's a little aggressive for thinner metal (but that is not what I bought it for)I used butting oil on the bit for some holes, it does help but it will cut good without the oil as well. The box it came in was labelled 1 1/4 inch but the listing was in mm. I wanted 1 1/4 so it worked out fine. The center drill bit has a flat spot where the set screw hold it, so it doe s not slip. The shank has flat spots for the drill chuck as well.

This little hole saw has many uses - but I want to commend it in particular for cutting clean accurate holes in sheet aluminum.Tube socket holes come out perfect! I used a drill press and cutting fluid intended for aluminum (I like tap magic - a little pricey but the holes come out super clean). Of course I observed the correct cutting speed, which I got from my machinist's handbook. Securely clamp the sheet, add a backing piece of some soft wood, and you will be rewarded with a hole that looks like it was cut with a mill. The tool is sharp and runs true to size. The centering drill bit and included hex wrench all contribute to the success of the tool. I've ordered several of these in various sizes and they definitely get the job done.I'm sure they'll cut through wood like butter, and are probably good for steel as well, with appropriate cutting fluid. But I used them on aluminum with excellent results. You could use them in a hand held drill too, but I didn't as I had a specific purpose in mind.Five stars, a well made carbide hole saw that vastly outperforms the cheap tool steel junk sold at the big box houses.

Heavy duty and fast cutting much better than the usual steel saw tooth style hole cutters.

I had the need to make a hole in corrugated galvanized steel. Well, my regular ol' hole saws were not going to get the job done, so I found this little guy. This thing is great! It took me longer to get the thing on my drill than it took to put the hole in the steel. Now, to find another use for a hole in metal the exact size...

Loved this bit, I needed some precision holes cut through brass plates. This bit did it like butter. I was really impressed. Something I was worried about was if the holes would be rough around the edges. They were not super smooth. Anyway great bit!
