Granted, I didn't expect much from a cheap viola to re-learn how to play. I at least expected a working one. This will not tune to hold the bridge up and the tailpiece is so cheaply made that it won't even hold the strings. What a bummer.

It is a fully functional viola for 70 dollars. I am still a beginner and don't know how much of the general jank can be attributed to the instrument or just to me learning, but it does function. It sometimes even sounds good, so I think that the instrument will be decent once I get the hang of it. It does seem to struggle with holding tune, but once I shoved the pegs in further it got better. It still shifts down a couple dozen hertz over the course of an hour-long practice session, but I don't think that's too bad. I was worried about the bow after reading reviews of other products, but mine was strung nicely and didn't have a hair out of place.As for negative aspects: The case was very cheaply made and I have had to repair it once already in my 3 days of carrying it places. The viola's paint has a lot of mistakes and odd bumps. There was a random sewing pin in my case that i was only able to get out with pliers. It can be extremely hard to tune at times.For all the negative aspects, it is still a fully functional viola for 70 dollars. I think it is good for if you want to start, but are on a tight budget. Also, invest in a shoulder rest. It is not included with this and will make your playing 100x easier.
