Reality: Stainless steel comes in various alloys, and its magnetism depends on the specific alloy composition. There are magnetic types and non-magnetic types.
Myth 2: Stainless Steel Rusts If It’s Magnetic
Reality: Magnetic stainless steel alloys can still resist rust and corrosion, just like their non-magnetic counterparts. Magnetism does not dictate corrosion resistance.
Stainless Steel Types:
Ferritic, such as 409, 430, 439. Magnetic
Austenitic, such as 304, 316. Non-Magnetic or weak magnetic
Martensitic, such as 410, 420, 440. Magnetic

Purchased these stainless steel self-drilling screws when I found Home Depot doesn’t sell non-corrosive screws. Purchased these from Amazon and they even provided a drill driver in the package. I completed my dock project without issue.
