I have to use pliers to tighten, then to release, what a disappointment

As far as I can tell the valve works perfectly.

My replacement valve had the thread locker on it, has an "O" ring on the lower valve stem, that seals, which the original valve did not have. I felt resistance screwing the new valve into the air tank, so the thread sealant worked.I was a purrfect pop and swap.I did squirt some silicone into the valve stem and on the "O" ring for grins and giggles.Used a 6" Cresent wrench to R&R.Now waiting to see if there will be any pressure loss, so far so good.Update 10/29/24: No pressure leakage, at all!

Bought this to replace a leaking valve on my compressor, installed it and no more leak! Suited its purpose!

This valve would not open and did not have the thread sealer already applied as in the picture. I could understand one manufacturing defect, but to not even have the thread sealer applied is ridiculous. I have multiple rolls of teflon tape and would have happily used the tape...if the valve had actually worked. It is a cheap part and there are many other options out there. That being said, I am just going to buy one somewhere else.

Had to replace the drain valve on my California Air Tool compressor, which is a great little compressor btw. It was a ball valve type and the o rings inside wore out. This valve fit properly after I cleaned the schmoo off the internal threads of the compressor and put some silicone tape on. The twist to close/open is very secure and going to be a long lasting item. If I had one comment I would say it is a little difficult to turn, quite a bit of resistance. If you have arthritis or your finger strength isn't so good you might want to choose an alternative product like the ball valve.
