The splicing block looks alright (have not used it yet), however, the leader tape and the splicing tape are below the standard quality. I have not encountered white transparent leader tapes on any of the reel to reel tapes I used so far. The tape sent for splicing is not a regular recording tape splicing tape. It is more of a packaging tape cut to the right size. It is overly sticky and has the wrong type stickiness that could in the long run contaminate the recording tape.

I bought a tape that didn’t have a leader and more importantly had a few breaks and partial tears.With a little guidance from YouTube and some good lighting I was able to make the repairs and add a leader to each end without too much trouble.The aluminum base is routered just enough to keep a little friction to hold the edges of the tape although adding some painters tape to hold each end of the audio tape made a big difference.The leader tape had some very thin plastic protecting the face of the outer edge. Being new to this process I thought at first the thin plastic was the leader tape which seemed ridiculous. It wrapped around the roll a few times so be sure to not use that as your leader but just unravel it until you get to the actual leader material.It doesn’t state how long the repair or leader tape is but based on the photos of the others I believe it’s the same. (Let’s face it, most products are now just multiple sellers adding their name to the same exact thing)
