Every once in a while, on a good night, I like to prep by partaking of the devil's lettuce and have a "Music Night" where I lie on the bed with my eyes closed and let the music dazzle and delight me.Meanwhile, my wife's off in our master bedroom reading and sleeping, and she swears the music doesn't bother her at all, but in the Music Room, I have no idea how loud something actually is - things I'm familiar with I have a better sense, but then I'll pop in another CD without changing the volume and it seems to be blaring. But now I have a scientific way to give myself immediate feedback and adjust accordingly.I really like the way this thing looks - big and bright and seriously supersized. You can't tell from my picture, but the little face changes from green to yellow, then to red, and it simultaneously displays the time, temp, relative humidity, and battery charge. I'm a gearhead, but I think it's cool! Here is a weird little how-about-that:If you look closely at the cassette deck directly below this device, there's a little engraved plaque that says, "CASSETTE A". That's because shortly after Frank Zappa died, the family had a used-equipment sale called "Joe's Garage Sale" after his "Joe's Garage" triple-album. There was another one labeled "CASSETTE B" and I asked them to try to send me the better one. It worked perfectly for years, and I got this great conversation piece for $75 American.

This decibel meter wall display appears to function properly except for the battery life. I discovered it can only run less than one day without needing plugged into charge. I even tested the timelines with the display off for a day. To me it is a huge minus do you have a display needing to be plugged in at all times to function. I don’t know if mine is just a one off for having such a small life or if all of them are that short. I have to deduct two stars just for the fact that it is cumbersome to keep it plugged in at all times.

This decimal meter can be hung up on a wall and seen from a good distance. I really like the extra large screen that is easy to read from far away. This is working good to keep everyone’s attention on keeping the sound down where it should be. I have never had one of these to try out, so it is kind of fun also to see how loud certain items are.

Frankly, I got this to gather evidence for a letter to the city council asking them to crack down on speeding and loud vehicles. This is great because I can put it in the area where I live and see it from a distance. The clock allows me to write down the time of the noise; I leave a video recorder running and it's easy to locate the clip of the noise. I put a regular sound meter that I have some confidence in next to it and both recorded about the same values, but with a bit of difference in the timing. This would be great in an elementary classroom. We didn't have these when I was a kid because we had nuns; they were very nice but you also knew never to cross them:)

My review is on the JuviPerpric - 13 inches Decibel Meter Wall Hanging Sound Decibel Meter, Sound Level Meter, Temperature, Humidity, Time Noise Monitor.I bought this as it looked like a fun & ear healthy thing to have in our band rehearsal room / studio. ( drums, bass & electric guitars, etc ) This decibel meter only goes to 130 DB's on the high end, but if we ever see that high of a rating something must have blown up equipment or vacuum tube wise. There is no need to ever even spike that loud practicing or recording. Now having a way to monitor the sound levels in our band room is great. We don't want to harm anyone's hearing and this unit will allow us to keep the sound levels in check easily. This meter is quite large and has a very clear and bright screen. See my measurement photos. The screen brightness is adjustable in three levels as well. The display shows the current set time, temperature, humidity, remaining battery life meter and sound / decibel meter level. The sound meter can be set to display the level every 125 milliseconds or 1 second intervals. The screen also has green, yellow and red faces that change along with the decibel level as another way it indicate when you are approaching dangerous sound levels that could harm your hearing. The unit includes a very lengthy charging cable at slightly under 10 feet long. This is a great length if you want to wall mount this item and keep it fully charges as well. You will need to provide the USB to wall outlet power adapter if that is how you choose to charge this item. The unit I received is extremely responsive and works exactly as expected with the exception of it remembering the time format and temperature scale of *C or *F. I am forced to manually reset the clock from a 24 hour format to my preferred 12 hour format. I also must change the temperature scale from Celsius to my preferred format of Fahrenheit every time I power on the unit. For that I docked a star. This unit can be wall mounted and includes wall anchors and screws. It also includes a screw hole measurement template so you can get this hung on the wall quickly with little effort. I use mine on a flat surface with the included kick-stand on the back side of the screen. That keeps it nice and vertical while still allowing a clear view of all the data shown on the screen. One last thing I'd like to mention about this unit is that it comes in a very nice hard sided foam padded box with a magnetic lid closure. This is a great addition to a nice sized meter as it is an easy option to keep it protected while you travel with it to other studios or anywhere you want to keep an eye on the sound levels around you. This is a well made product that I would buy again.

I use this in a shop/office hybrid environmentIt's not JUST noise level (though important for me as it's a steel building and the noise insulation to outside isn't great)I find it a general environmental (temp and humidity too)I use 24hr and it's nice this supports itmain thing though - it's big enough for easy reading - it's not a desk clock[While this was sent to me for review, I take that job seriously. Getting people the wrong product is wasteful, irresponsible and a hassle for everyone. Not everything I review gets high marks -- BTW, I live in a high sales tax state, review items aren't exactly at-no-cost for me]
