What Is a Throttle Body?

The throttle body of your vehicle is basically a butterfly valve. It is usually located anywhere between the intake manifold and the air intake filter. The core function of the throttle body is to regulate and control the amount of air that is allowed to enter the engine.

This is regulated by the information that determines how much combustion is required inside the engine and how much air will be required for that combustion. The input data is sensed from the pressure that the driver applies on the throttle of the vehicle. The stronger pressure on the gas pedal, the more air that enters the engine system.

Where Is the Throttle Body Located?

Typically, in most vehicles, the throttle body can be found in between the intake manifold and the air filter or air cleaner of the engine system.

The location of the throttle body can be a little different for different vehicles. However, according to the purpose of the throttle body, it should be located anywhere between the air filter and the intake manifold.

1.Rough Idling

If you notice your car’s engine stays between 500 to 100 RPM and the engine vibrates frequently, it may be due to a dirty throttle body. To fix the situation, you can get your car’s throttle body serviced and the engine vibration will go away.

Attention

If the air filter is not functioning properly or it is clogged, the throttle body will also not perform well. For this reason, just like the air filter maintenance, the throttle body and butterfly also require regular maintenance and cleaning.

Traverse wouldn’t go over 10-15mph, Installed and now I’m back in business. Super easy fix with only 4 10mm screw holding it on, use screwdriver to loosen 2 clamps . What more can I say

I typically order genuine GM parts, but this is for a 2011 Traverse that is all paid off. The part was easy to install, fit perfectly and most of all fixed teh Traction Control, AWD and ABS issues that were causing my check engine light to be lit.

On a 2011 Acadia it cleared “service airbags”, “service stabilitrak”, “service traction control”, and “engine power reduced”. It restored sporadic transmission shifting, even downshifting at 60 mph, that had made me believe I was gonna have to spend a fortune to get over 60 mph again. It’s a shame the deception in the designs of parts and electronic trickery in the circuitry. This one part singlehandedly relieved a ton of worry. Mechanics had kept its trouble code a secret. I had even drained the transmission and replaced other sensors. Maybe it won’t last but I’ll know what for. UPDATE: The part still works fine almost 3 months later.

The item was missing the electronic ,it was and empty shell, as per the GMC dealer, I ended paying 1200, to dealer because when I installed this item it did not fix the problem and I took it to the dealer and the dealer told me there was no electronic inside it was just a shell.

Replaced part in my 2008 Saturn Outlook after getting GM P1516 (TAC Module) code and car going into reduced power. After getting this code on a couple of occasions and cleaning my throttle and spraying the connector it just doesn't last long before it happens again so I decided it was time to just replace the throttle. Great part at a great price. It's just been a few days but so far so good. It is definitely running better. Hoping this also fixes the transmission shifting hard and on a rare occasion getting a P0700 code where the car doesn't want to drive over 30/40 mph.
