These 12 x 1 Hex TEK screws were purchased for a specific job. A 1/8-inch thick cold rolled angle iron is fastened to another piece of the same material to create a support structure for solar panels. One piece of iron was pre-drilled and the screw was expected to drill through the second piece, then tap the hole, and tighten the 2 pieces together.The screws fail to drill a hole. See the picture of the flattened point on one screw compared to the unused point of the other screw.I began pre-drilling the second hole as well as the first hole, which would only require the TEK screw to tap the second hole and then thread itself into the hole. It failed again. The screw breaks when trying to tap the hole or when it is tightening up.I wasted a day trying to make these screws work and then went to the hardware store and bought replacements, which work as TEK screws should work.These screws were not properly heat treated or they were not baked after electroplating.

These were the perfect length for hanging e-track in my trailer. 1" was too short, 1-1/2" was too long. These 1-1/4" were the perfect lenth. These easily drilled into the metal frames and snugged up nicely.

I used these to screw down some plywood on my trailer. The drill point pierced the steel tube easily. Some others I have used failed to drill through thicker steel.

drilled into corrugated steel and 1/8 " thick angle iron and 4' steel tubing without a problem. no stripping of threads, no head breakage. Make sure you use the proper head diameter with an adequate drill.
