Cover plate has the screws spaced at 3” whereas all electrical outlet boxes have the screw holes spaced at 3-1/4”. So of course this device cannot be installed into any normally available electrical outlet box. So beware before buying this non-standard device.

So far, the controller has worked well for my DIY exhaust fan setup. My only complaint is that due to the push button, the mounting options are very specific. I wanted to mount to a wood panel without the switch plate over it...but that was not possible due to the interference of the push button. I had to cut a square out of the panel so the switch would fit into it and then mount the aluminum switch cover plate. This was not ideal as it now looks weird and doesnt blend in with the rest of the switches.

I tried this with three different LED lights, and they all flickered at low dim. Back it goes.

Only issue is I wish the frequency was far higher but could not find anything better than these at an affordable price. So far they are working great.

I am very happy with this LED light dimmer switch. I have it installed inside an overland trailer, allowing me to create dim light as needed (the installed lights are typically much too bright). This is a sophisticated pulse-width modulating dimmer in a compact form factor, with an attractive mounting design (both the control knob and faceplate are aluminum, not plastic).Functionally, this dimmer is superior to many, because the pushbutton on-off switch operates independently of the dimmer—rather than only clicking off at the fully counter-clockwise lowest level. This way, I can go straight to whatever brightness the lights were last at. So far, I have not noticed either the flicker or noise sometimes associated with PWM dimming of LED lighting. You'll notice in the dimmer's schematic that the wiring setup is a little funky, being a "low-side" dimmer. This means the "common" wiring to your lights is positive 12 volts, with the dimmer controlling the negative 12 volt side. No ramifications of low-side dimming that I am aware of, other than that you cannot ground your fixtures to a negative-ground vehicle chassis.I'm very satisfied with this dimmer, and pleased to recommend it to you.

The dimmer switch works well and looks very nice; however, the size doesn't fit a standard single gang electrical box. It would have been very easy to have manufactured the dimmer with a standard size cover plate.
