The blue pen does not wash out. Thankfully it bleed on a practice piece.

These pens are great! The color is visible and stays put throughout the whole quilting process, and it marks easily-no going over the same spot numerous times to get a good line. Both colors disappear totally when wetted, even on white fabric. And there are a bunch of them, making them very economical to use. With the money you save, you can buy more fabric ; )

These pens work really, really well. I could never find my single, double ended pen when I needed it so the 12 pieces in this set solve that problem - there is always one at hand. They do what they say and disappear with water, or air and I find no difference at all with the more expensive brands. A true bargain.

1st photo is immediately after testing, 2nd photo is a few hours after testing, last photo is the next morning after a quick wipe with a damp napkin.I tested this on white as the most extreme example, I was mostly concerned about staining.You can put your worries to rest, if the purple doesn't stain white after wiping off, everything else is safe.I havent tested the upper limit of 7days for autofading, but it did appear lighter after a few hours, still visible next morning.Tried chalk & wasn't happy with it but these pens seem to work like a pen on paper.& yes, the caps fit over eachother while using.I dont feel ripped off, & looking forward to using these in earnest.

Tried on different fabrics and blue definitely lasts the longest. Purple disappears after a few days. It does last longer on flannel vs cotton fabrics but blue still beats it by 3 weeks. I think it'll last as long as you need. Satisfied with the blue and love it, I don't like the purple.
