Instructions

  • First, use a drill of matching size to drill the hole.
  • Second, use wire thread insert (special) tap tapping, the tapping depth must exceed the installation length of wire thread insert.
  • Third, put the wire thread insert into the installation wrench with the tail down, and turn the handle of the installation wrench to screw the wire thread insert into the threaded hole.
  • Fourth, use a punching tool to align the mounting handle (tail) and hit the punching tool with a hammer, and the tail handle can be removed.
  • Fifth, when there is a problem with the installation of the wire thread insert, (such as jumping teeth), the thread thread insert removal tool can be used to remove the thread insert.

Everything needed for repair of 16x1.5 metric threads in one place. The coil inserts work pretty well for most repairs. And both the drill and tap are of good enough quality to make repairs on un-hardened steel or softer metals. Probably will work on plastics also if you need stronger threads. I must say, the tap in this kit is probably the nicest I have seen so far in an import thread repair kit. No chips or dings in the cutting edge at all. Nice surprise!

Great kit with everything you need for a thread repair. Comes with a drill, Tap, installation tool, and tang breaker offer. It also comes with 6 helicoils. It's not cheap at 35 bucks for the kit. I have seen cheaper kits but for smaller-diameter threads. All the components seem to be of decent quality. The drill and tap should last for a while.

I was a little skeptical when I bought it because I needed to have 150 ft lbs of torque on it. It was easy to install and easily withstood the torque applied.
