These discs are a nice hybrid between the standard flap disc sanding wheel (works great for lawn mower sharpening) and the paint/rust removal wheel (great for cleaning down to the base metal, but not aggressive at smoothing or anything that requires stock removal.These work well to remove surface rust and paint and also remove imperfections in the base metal without being too aggressive. Unfortunately, the design tends to wear more quickly than either of the other two types for the amount of work accomplished.Part of that issue may be that the recommended maximum speed is only 5000 RPM, which is half or less than the speed of my angle grinders.Tend to spin off a lot of particles, so wear good protection!The fast wear doesn't mean these are bad wheels--they are very good at what they do, and if you need that "tweener" kind of wheel, these will meet your need at a fair price.

Living in the land of rust I am always looking for a better way to remove corrosion and paint when prepping to weld parts together. I have one of the 4” wheel refinisher machines sold at HF or Eastwood, but those can’t get into the corners like these can. These wheels fit on my standard grinder with the guard in place. Sometimes the guard is in the way so it gets removed. These wheels work better when using the edges rather than the flat sides, the reinforcement ribs suggest that was the intention. I have gotten a lot out use out of the first pack and will be ordering more as needed.

I absolutely love the Sbestily 120 and 240 grit scour flap discs! I’ve never seen anything remove light rust and paint from metal surfaces so quickly and easily! I tested the flap discs on an old Estwing framing hammer which had a layer of light rust with splotches of house paint. The red discs, with the finer 240 grit, made super quick work of both paint and rust, leaving the hammer looking shiny and polished in no time. It really wasn’t necessary to apply any pressure as the disc did most of the work on its own. I can think of many, many uses for these discs! For example, I have a set of Olympic weights which have rust areas and need to be repainted. These discs will quickly strip the rusted areas and prepare the weights for a fresh coat of paint.As you can see in the final picture, the disc did experience quite a bit of wear, and there was a good deal of dust, which I assume was comprised of disc particles and rust and paint from the hammer. For that reason, I would recommend wearing safety glasses along with a protective face mask. Also, in addition to the paint and rust that was removed, I believe that the disc also removed a thin layer of metal even with the 240 grit. Take care to ensure that the discs don’t take too much metal away from whatever it is you are stripping. If the 240 grit removed a thin layer of metal, I would imagine that the 120 grit would be very aggressive. A grit finer than 240 might be needed for thin or delicate metal items. That being said, these are highly useful tools and I’m glad to have them in my toolbox.

I now have a lifetime supply. I have an old house that needs extensive repairs and these flap discs are working well scouring off flaking paint and rust along corner bead in a tired old bathroom. I would order these again, if I ever run out.

Not currently in the grinding or I should say lightly taking the surface for us off of stuff, but these are going to be my go to rust and light stuff removal for metal.Of course, these are not meant to work on your paint job or anything, but they will do a good job on a barbecue grill, some of your tools that develop light rust and in my case, getting rid of rust from just sitting around as iron before I weld on itComes bundled completely so that the pads do not get deformed which I appreciateSo far, the shipping worked fine because Amazon is more efficient on how they ship things and I was worried about this being compressed arrived in great conditionTry to store these loosely and fly if you canI would recommend that you try this out. I can see long list of uses. I’m gonna need to use it for.

I like refurbishing and using old woodworking tools. I didn’t order these specifically for working on them but I am learning how to do a traditional japanning finish on my hand planes. It provided me with a great opportunity to try them out. These wheels will take the old japanning of of a hand plane in no time, leaving a rust and finish free surface with comparatively very little wear on the disk itself. Japanning is an old black colored finish that was baked on to things like hand tools and antique sewing machines. It is hard, durable and a real pain to remove. If these disks will remove japanning without a problem they will take just about anything off of metal.The disks themselves are not what I would consider a flapper disk. The disk has abrasive material with harder flaps set into it. Those flaps make them last longer than disks made from similar material that I have previously used. If you want to remove paint, rust or 100 year old japanning these will get the job done.
