Our goal with these was Biminis Built Better (BBB), and that's what we did. We made a better frame and a better canvas. This is very much like what you would expect a shop to turn out for you, if you went about getting a custom bimini made, but at about half the price or less. The frame snaps together, and will not fade or tarnish. The fittings are metal. The kit stands, when fully assembled, 54" tall, which, when added to the top of your rails, or gunwales, makes for an ideal height, for most scenarios.
Now, as far as the canvas, what we have is unique. The secret is in the material. It’s a 16 ounce canvas. It is our custom material of choice and is an engineered canvas that has been under development for upwards of 10 years. It is a woven material that is woven from engineered polyester thread, not cotton. In other words, our covers are canvas, but rather than canvas constructed of cotton thread, the canvas is constructed of polyester thread. This is our method of choice for many reasons, some of which are longevity, quality, appearance, and reliability. Think of how, for example, engineered wood flooring is many times more durable than organic wood flooring. Now, apply that thinking to our engineered canvas. The material is woven from engineered polyester thread, then polyurethaned, waterproofed, and mildew protected. The material is engineered to last at least 20 years.
