Stock coolant expansion tanks are prone to failure after years of constant temperature variations. The Mishimoto tank is constructed from durable, TIG-welded aluminum for optimal durability and longevity. The engineers at Mishimoto have designed a CNC-machined dipstick which doubles as a bleeder and allows for proper cold coolant levels. It features a polished finish that will look great in your engine bay. This expansion tank is a direct fit for the stock and Mishimoto BMW E36 Performance Fan Shroud Kit! As with all our products, this expansion tank includes the Mishimoto Lifetime .

Best cooling system upgrade you can do!Super high quality, machining is perfect, and so is the welding! I haven't pressure tested yet, but like all Mishimoto upgrades I've done, I have full confidence it will work perfectly.Highly recommend their radiator and radiator hoses!

Looks cool, easy install but had to secure to rad shroud with zip tie. If I could change something, the dipstick should have the oring recessed into a groove but doesn't leak so whatever

Looks nice, but expensive and IMHO let down by fit engineering. My E36 had a stock cooling system Plastic radiator/ Tank / mechanical fan. Radiator was seriously weeping at the tanks, decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to durable components. Was not originally planning to purchase the tank as my standard tank was not cracked and fairly new - BUT I snapped the overflow connector off when refitting so decided to upgradeMain issue I had with this tank was the fit between this tank and the fan shroud. You would think that as these are all designed to work together they would fit perfectly. NOT SO! the flare on bottom hose connector was TO BIG to fit though the bracket on the Mishimoto fan shroud! That is just DUMB, and unacceptable for the price this cost. Other issue I have is that the top mounting is not confidence inspiring. There just seems a little too much play between the bracket supplied with the shroud and the small nub on the tank. Once the bottom hose is on tight then its a little firmer but come-on Mishi - you can do better! Yes it can be fettled BUT for this sort of money should NOT need to be.The other issue I had was that this is was a real bear to fill and bleed properly. Much harder than the standard tank, which if not done properly can still be a bit of a pain. Not sure if its the internal design of the tank but they have done away with the standard bleed screw so there is not a good way for the air to escape as you fill. The only way I could get it to work was to jack up front very high and disconnect the small overflow hose from the radiator - that then released the trapped air.As to long term - only just completed and test driven so cannot report on that, but this setup should end the plastic torture once and for all. but IMHO is let down by the small things.

This took 4 days to come to me instead of amazon’s prime 2 day delivery as promised. This item caused my car to overheat because I could not properly install this item. I had to call a tow truck and my car is still in the shop. As you can see from the picture this expansion tank does not fit correctly. My mechanic even told me this is a poor design. Please do not buy this item I beg you, if you own a bmw e36.

The stock OEM up for mounting tab?...Has to be “modified” (actually broken off). The tank sits up just a wee bit too high and it’s not designed for the OEM upper mounting tab. What I did was run a zip tie around the neck of the tank underneath where the Fits on and then a secondary zip tie through the fan shroud mounting tab and fastened it all nice and tight.I think I used a total of three zip ties.Very satisfied with the quality of the product and the “shiny factor” up under the hood!.

Instructions leave a lot to be desired for, the hose coming off the side does not connect to anything and acts like an overflow squirting fluid to the ground through your engine bay (weird). "Dipstick" level checking device works well enough. The best thing I can say is that it is all metal which is a huge improvement over the original. Downside is there is no way to eyeball the level while it is hot, if you open the dipstick to check, well you would be a dipstick.
