I only needed one unit in this package of five. The price for five was comparable to packages with less units so I chose this one. The positive and negative connections and the flow of electricity is well marked and I found these easy to connect to my power source and the one I'm using functions very well so far. The first unit I tried didn't adjust the voltage and after several attempts at connecting and disconnecting the alligator clips I was using for the initial test I gave up. The one I'm using is the second one I tried. I tested it in the same fashion before soldering everything together and it functions fine. I have not tested the rest.

I had a problem with them initially but it turned out it was some new to me solder I was using. Ended up giving me cold joints so would not connect properly. Had a little of my old solder left so used it and wallah all was good. Checked all 5 with test leads and they all functioned fine.NOTE: They are set to full voltage so to adjust these turn the screw CCW, it takes about 3-5 turns to get it to start adjusting (my setup is 12V in) might be different with other input voltages, took about 8-10 turns to set at 7.4V.

Overall good module, but please read the regulator chip datasheet before purchasing. At low output voltages, it has efficiency less than 75%. In my case, converting 12V to 3.3V at 2.5A overheats it in around 10 seconds (no heat sink added). Also, it drops over 170mV or 5% of output voltage, between idle and full 2.5A load.If you need high currents at low output voltages it makes sense to look for modern, high frequency synchronous regulators. This Simple Switcher family member is just too old and inefficient for such applications

Instantly matches a low wattage device to the output of a small solar panel. Cheap & easy.

I use these to convert old laptop charging bricks into very reliable robotics power supplies. I suggest using a capacitor! But at maximum draw.... I only experienced brief fluctuations in voltages at about +_ 0.3volts occasionally. My situation called for a 470uf capacitor and it's smooth as silk now (also capacitor at the input, it's always good practice). Will be purchasing again as soon as I'm ready for my next project but I will have 2 left over. Glad to have them.

I have used and deployed a number of LM2596 buck converters in various projects over the years. They are incredibly useful. A "set it and forget it" device, you can essentially dial these in and never worry about them again.

Perfect for running various 12V fans and a 5V LED strip off a 24V power supply. At a few bucks a pop there is no reason not to get extra, there are a million uses for these things. As an added bonus there are dozens of designs for cases and mounts of all kinds floating around.Heck I couldn't build step-down converters for this price out of discreet components!

There isn't too much to say about a simple buck converter. They're easy to solder, easy to dial in, and just work. They don't have any sort of reverse polarity protection though, so double check your wiring before you power them up, else you release the magic smoke.Definitely something to keep a pile of on hand
