This is an inexpensive way to track engine hours. Installing is super easy. Simply wrap the included wire around a spark plug wire with several wraps.secure the wire with a small zip tie. The wire then presses into the back of the meter. The meter picks up the small electrical impulse to record run time. A must have for any small engine that doesn’t have its own hour meter. I have them on all my dirtbikes and generators.

I use these on my lawn mower and pressure washer to keep track of the running time to let me know when they are due for an oil change. Very simple to use. Just wrap the small wire around the spark plug wire several times and attach the other end to the "clip" on the meter. The small wire acts like an antenna, picks up the signal from the spark plug wire by inductive coupling, and turns the meter "on". No moving parts. The downside to these is that are completely sealed, and you cannot replace the battery that runs the LCD display. So, when they run out, you replace them. Thats where I am now. This red one is a perfect match for a toro mower.
