So I got these tongs and immediately tried working with hot flat 1095 metal. These tongs couldnt hold the bars steady whatsoever so I looked at them closely. The faces of the tongs, which are supposed to be totally flat were not, causing only one small point of contact between the two faces. Very small surface area of contact causing the metal or whatever its holding to fully fully swing and rotate. Terrible product.

I've returned a similar priced set of tools. Like they say, you get what you pay for, I guess. These are prime though. Perfectly smooth griping area. Perfect for working with soft metals like silver. Smooth action, and just big enough to keep you hands out of the furnace.

These are nice and sturdy. Haven’t used them yet but they look like they will hold up very well.
