The door lock strik/hook broke as its made of cast aluminum. Replacing that part alone was not working, so got this and replaced both the hook and switch which fixed the problem. To remove the spring/wire ring I also got the spring expansion tool which made the replacement much easier. This worked with LG WM3770HWA washing machine. The hole in the hook initially felt small as the existing pin was not going in, but once I gently hammered the pin, it went it... so likely there was some burr or obstruction that got cleared when I pushed the pin with force. Overall the replacement was quick and saved ton of money.

After taking the top of the machine off 2 screws in back ,then unplugging the switch ,unscrewing the old switch and a little stretching and sheet metal cuts I was able to plug the new switch in then screw it in place machine is up and running. Works great.

The original mechanism gave out and I just knew it would be like $500 to have a guy come out to replace. Amazingly after a quick search I found the part number, found them cheap on Amazon and ordered this one. It came with everything needed. The instructions were on the product page in one of the photos. It was a simple job except I did not have the proper tool to put the ring back around the gasket so I needed a second set of hands and some ingenuity. Eventually got it on and it works great!

Please note that you must remove the extension spring that holds the seal to the washer. If you have needle-nose pliers, you can do it fairly quickly. The original lock must also be removed, as the new latch doesn't work with the old lock. You will have to take all the screws out of the door to get the clasp out. Once removed, you will need something flat to wedge into the pin mechanism of the clasp. Slide it out most of the way, and reinstall the clasp in the same direction. It took me about half an hour to repair. Don't forget to put the seal back when you are done. Good luck, and have fun!
