The description and the supporting images depict this as a 6 mesh (4.5mm) SS cloth...like a screen or strainer. What arrived was a grid of orthonormal SS strips such that they have the 4.5mm square holes. This is very impractical, inefficient as a lab strainer. Very disappointed.

- Made in ChinaI've never had one of these before, but I was just griping about 3 wks ago that I wished I had a real sieve. I make my own supplements, one of which is Cinnamon, but I use the real Ceylon Cinnamon. It's a bit difficult to grind small enough.I wanted one so I could sift out the parts that were done so I could reduce volume and get a better second grind for the more stubborn bits. Doing this reduces waste by powder cloud and grind time substantially so I'm pretty tickled with this thing. The frame is a good thick steel, nicely and evenly finished. The screen is sturdy steel with almost no give to it. Secured well in the frame.Really happy with this for my purpose.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice. This is an industrial sieve with standard mesh. Both the sides and screen are made of stainless steel. The screen is encased top and bottom by the frame. There are no logos on the sieve other than the peel-off sticker; the mesh size is not labeled on the frame other than the peel-off sticker. The sieve was made in China.I am impressed with the build of this sieve. It is heavy-duty and durable. I got this for field sampling macro invertebrates in steams. The sieve works quite well for that purpose. The mesh is good quality and even. Overall, this is a good choice for a standard sieve.

There's so much on a farm that you need sieves for. I end up using a lot of hardware cloth for things, as well as sifters, but recently we acquired black soldier fly larva. I have the 12 mesh sieve and it almost works for what I had intended, but if you are looking for a strainer for larva, go with the 20 mesh.I'm still super happy with my sieve and it's working out great now that the larva are larger. My intent was to prevent an anaerobic environment by sifting every couple of days to remove liquids from my larva, and then transferring my larva back into a dry bedding material so they can get back to small scale composting of our produce. The 12 mesh is good for older larva, but doesn't work for new, fresh larva hatches. Still, it's pretty awesome. I was surprised at how stout this is. The 12 mesh feels excellent and can withstand a ton of weight. I am sure the 20 mesh would hold up wonderfully and plan to get that next. Well worth the cost for my investment in composting.
