I had a failed pressure regulator that was soldered in to copper pipe. I had planned to replace it, but was not looking forward to cutting everything apart, replacing the junctions and soldering everything back together. I am a household handyman, but serious plumbing is above my pay grade. The kit was not hard to install (you do need to know your way around basic tools, etc.) and works perfectly. It saved me only a few dollars compared to the cost of buying a new regulator, however if you add in hiring a plumber, it saved me a bundle, not to mention saving several pounds of brass from the trash.

Worked great. Hard to tell if you have the diaphragm tight to the core. otherwise easy peesy. Water pressure went from 140psi and ratteling pipes to 60psi. the nice part is these pressure regulators adjust flow based on demand, so you get a steady pressure throughout the house.

This was a pretty easy replacement. Make sure you have a 1 1/8” socket to remove the cartridge. If it’s super stuck like mine, an impact drill will make quick work to loosen things up. Pretty straight forward. My water pressure was between 80-120psi at various times of the day. And there was a lot of debris and sediment gunking up the cartridge. My water flow was pretty low despite the pressure. I think at the end of the day I could have gotten away with taking out the old cartridge and cleaning it and only replacing the hard-as-a-rock diaphragm, but I went ahead and swapped all the parts out. Only complaint is that the replacement cartridge is plastic. Time will tell how well that holds up.

The kit does work. (+5) The original cartridge is either brass or copper. The new cartridge is made of plastic and stainless steel. I am not sure it can be unscrewed next time as a single piece. (-2) There is lubricant but not in the small tube in the picture. Amazon missed its original delivered date

The item that arrived is not as shown in the photo. The cartridge in the photo is stainless steel. The cartridge that arrived in the repair kit is plastic. They need to update their photo or ship stainless steel cartridge.

I was hesitant to remove my existing valve (that was bad). I had two companies come and bid this replacement - one was $700, the other was $1,000.I removed my old valve - it was a bit of work to get the housing apart....existing unit was 25 years old. I applied some heat with a butane torch and the housing came right off. It was a breeze getting the new parts installed and getting the unit adjusted (55 PSI).Old PSI was 130 - this new install moved it down to a much safer PSI. I was intimidated to do this repair but found a really great video online to help.Shipping was fast and the cost was more than 1/10th less than hiring this out. I'd recommend going this route again in a heart beat.

Great product for repairing my old failed unit. Instructions pretty clear and there's a YouTube video that helps if you're not quite sure. Saved me the cost of a plumber. Two thoughts: your old unit may be on pretty tight, so figure out a way to protect your pipes from the torque when you open up the old bell housing. AND make sure to use a water pressure guage and set your pressure to your local water company recommended pressure. They're available here on Amazon and attach to the outside hose faucet. Piece of cake.
