I bought these to stop thumb and hand cramps caused by crochet—they really do the job!

It's true that they won't fit a lot of pens. They will, however, fit over normal sized pencils and standard ballpoint pens like Bic Crystal, and they fit over Staedler pigment liners, but not Sakura Micron (unless you slit them with a razor). The material itself is solid and retains that unless you're really squeezing it--which you shouldn't, that's terrible for your hand. Most of us consider a product like this because some sort of pain or discomfort. I'm no different: radial nerve, sausage fingers, and a smorgasbord of soft tissue from years as a heavy mechanic. And I love to draw. For hours on end, all day sometimes. When it comes to writing and drawing, it's very easy to be lazy and lay your wrist upon the table, and try to get maximum mileage out of that until you have to move it over to write the next few words, or draw the next thing. And having a narrow grip forces you to contract your fingers and their corresponding tendons the vast majority of the time you are holding the pen. Combining these two dynamics, you have contractions fighting against other contractions while twisting your wrist. Not only is this very inefficient, unnecessarily fatiguing, cramp causing, writing/drawing elegance sabotaging, it also accumulates over time into easily excitable inflammation. What the fat grip does is twofold:1. it removes the tension fighting tension dynamic, you can mostly relax your hands almost entirely.2. it narrows the space you can get away with lazily leaving your wrist in the same position and getting maximum mileage out of that (ex twisting your wrist).Because, in doing anything for a long period of time, you will inevitably result to the laziest way of doing it, the fat grip forces the laziest way to be the correct way and the way that doesn't cause any strain or damage. And you don't even have to think about it, the adjustment is automatic. For those who draw, it forces whole arm drawing which is ideal. You'll have a more fluid line quality. This might take some getting used to if you've mainly drawn from your wrist for some time. But as far as holding the grip, and even making precise, fine motor movements with the wrist and fingers in the wrist-down position, it takes a couple minutes at worst for your mind to adjust.*If your favorite pens are on the thicker size and these won't fit, look into tattoo gun grip tape. It's cheap enough and it does the trick just the same.

These are very stiff and will only work with one small 1/4" pencil. They don't work with most pens, markers, crayons, etc. There is no give on the foam so you can't use them on most implements. It's one size.

I bought these because I have extreme hypermobility and the beginning stages of arthritis. I have been having a lot of pain when I write that lingers afterwards. I have a similar tool for my crochet hooks & wanted to give these a try. So far, so good! They fit over regular pencils & the standard sized bic pens that I normally use. Any pens thinker than those will require a modification to the grip. The price is very good. I would highly recommend!

This item helps me hold my pen so that I can write a little bit better being that I have MS.

This product has such a small hole for the writing utensil, it is useless for most pens and pencils. It is hard surface, so there is no "give" to it when you try to hold it. As such, it is of no use for arthritic hands. I recommend you search for a better option. This is a waste of money.

Good grip, good price. The only knock I have on them is inconsistency in shape/size. Out of the pack of 6, two of the grips are very comfortable for me, while the other 4 are not great, but acceptable.
