This light plugs into the wall but has an independent switch on the power cord with which you turn the light on and off. You can also change the intensity of the switch from brighter to dimmer with the same switch. It looks great in our game room.I bought this light in December and we have loved it in our game room, but today I went to turn it on and due to static electricity I got a spark and now the light is dead. I have unplugged it and done several different actions to revive it but nothing seems to work. we are very sad.
