This is as fast cutting as any drill bit I have ever used! The wood I am drilling into is part of my compost bin. I have drilled and staked it using a variety of different bits. All difficult, slow cutting and too short. This one is almost too fast!! This summer I will use its full length and replace the spikes with 1/2 and 9/16 rebar. The drill bit comes in a tube that is sturdy easy to use. I included a picture of its open/close and locking method. Bumps into slots! Simple fast and strong. Perfect long term storage.

Perfectly centered, seems durable. Not bad for the price

This is a great quality bit made of outstanding materials and built to last. The tip has an aggressive point that bites immediately into wood, holding the bit centered so there is no walking and the hole goes exactly where you want it. Most recently, I used this to drill holes through door headers, and it went through fast and clean. These are exceptional bits with good reach that make the work easier and more enjoyable.

The 12" length on these wood bits is perfect for drilling long bolt holes through the wood beams that are to be "through-bolted" for construction of pole barns or other types of animal stalls. I also use this bit for installing the hardware on fence gates that need a heavy-duty hinge connection. The bit stays very sharp and cuts through the wood like butter. Makes a nice, clean hole (9/16).

had my doubts that this bit could drill into old trees to help burn the stumps, but it did with no problem! And the next day helped me loosen dirt to put plants and bushes in the ground

For doing rough-in work, which I did all day today running wire between 2x4 studs, this bit is super aggressive and digs in hard when you're using it. I actually had to run my drill a bit slower and use the clutch because it’s so aggressive that without it, there were times when it bit in so hard it caused my Milwaukee to get loose. Thankfully, my Milwaukee has a safety feature to stop it from ripping out of my hand, but it’s still jarring when it happens.I would be hesitant to use this on harder woods or something like a railroad tie because of how aggressive this bit is. For plastics, absolutely not. This bit is best for people punching holes into softer woods like pine, so it’s great for rough-in work.

This is a great quality auger bit. The flutes are nice and sharp and it cut easily and smoothly through oak and pine. I love the 12 inch length allowing to go through thick timbers. Comes in a nice tube for storage to prevent dings. Very pleased and would recommend.

I have another bit similar to this one that I have used for YEARS. They are priceless when you need them and spend the rest of their time encased and in a drawer...but when you need one, you NEED one. This 1/2 x 12-Inch Auger Drill Bit is a reliable tool for anyone working on wood projects that need precise, deep holes. It drills up to 10 inches deep, which comes in handy for tasks requiring depth; I personally used this for drilling through the exterior wall of my house for a new Ethernet line and it's fantastic to be able to cut right through without having to try and line up a pair of holes. The single-tooth cutting edge starts at the edge, so it cuts smoothly and removes chips quickly, leaving clean holes without much hassle. The self-positioning tip is a nice touch, letting it find the right spot on its own, so you’re not constantly adjusting. Made from durable 1045 high carbon steel, it’s built to last, especially when used with a high-powered drill. This bit works well for everything from softwood to hardwood, MDF, and even tougher materials like railroad ties and in my case Hardie board (siding). It's versatile enough for a range of DIY projects—whether you're running cables, installing shelves, or building something structural, this auger drill bit performs well and makes the job easier. Well worth having one in the tool kit.
