Zippo’s Matte lighters are one of the most popular lighter finishes as the matte finish gives the lighter a smooth texture, it doesn’t show fingerprints, it doesn't scratch easily, and there are a variety of colors to choose from. The black matte lighter was first introduced into Zippo’s stock line in 1984 and soon after four more colors were introduced; blue, burgundy, green, and grey. In 1985, the Zippo logo was imprinted on the lighter and a border was added. Matte colors and designs continue to improve with time. Each lighter has a bottom stamp signifying the year it was made, is refillable, and is backed by Zippo's famous lifetime guarantee. All windproof lighters are American made in our Bradford, PA factory and come packaged in a gift box.

Got this for a friend that had never owned a Zippo before. He absolutely loves it. He has had it for a few months now and the quality hasn't dwindled. He uses it on a regular basis and it hasn't retained any scratches. The color is to die for. It's got a great texture and looks good in all lighting. Definitly worth the price and I would buy for myself if it were my style. 100% recommed this product to everyone!

Zippo is synonymous with quality durability, ease of use value for a reason - it's all those things. Easy to refill also and the flame is great.

If you’re gonna carry a lighter, as a man you should carry a Zippo! This one is sleek and tough! They make great fidget gadgets, too! Can’t beat that feeling of flipping that lid back and forth just to de-stress. Look like a man when starting a fire or lighting up a Marlboro! Knock off lighters just don’t cut it, go with Zippo!

Can be fixed/refilled forever with simple tools and cheap supplies. Works well every time until the fuel evaporates and you forgot to refill it. No, keeping the lid closed doesn't help that much. It's the most and least dependable lighter at the same time. There are but two reasons to buy one:1. You are committed to regular maintenance and don't like using disposable things. It is important to you that your things are sustainable and American made.2. The lid makes the cool sound before you light up and it makes you feel cool.

Review being posted after 2 weeks of use. Honestly, not expected however genuine product delivered this time via 3rd party amazon seller, chances taken after going through the bad review and experience of Amazon’s customers. If you get lucky then you’ll have a genuine product delivered.Product I received is simply amazing, came with genuine zippo box with lifetime warranty.In regards to fuel consumption, works almost for a week for self once refilled generously.Kudos

Zippo has an excellent reputation to start with and most of the reviews that I read about any of the lighters were four or five stars. I rely a lot on reviews to decide what to buy when I need something, now I'm giving back. The shipping was about 4 days earlier than estimated -other reviews mentioned fast shipping too in case you don't believe me ;). My package came from Mississauga Ontario and I live in Winnipeg so it wasn't too far maybe compared to someSo far this lighter is excellent, it will run out of fluid faster because it is a wick lighter but that is to be expected. The case is slightly thinner and more flimsy than I thought but it seems to be holding up. it will not rust because the case is made of brass the "distinctive zippo click" is pretty cool.The flame is great, it is quite large and even though it is not pressurized and blowing out into a blue cone it is just as windproof. A nice thing with this lighter (wick lighters in general) is that you don't have to hold a button to maintain the flame. Overall I am very happy with my purchase of this zippo lighter, i like the look, wick lighters and the black matte doesn't attract finger marks!

I've owned a couple Zippo lighters over the years. So far, I've never had to throw one away because it stopped working. I generally either lose them or leave them places on accident. Thankfully, at this price, it isn't too much of a problem to just buy a new one every 3 years or so. This matte black lighter is no exception. Build quality on these continues to impress me. The finish is smooth and even, resistant to scuffs and scratches, and definitely looks much classier than your standard disposable lighter. I've never run into a bad authentic Zippo myself, and have heard very rarely about others having faulty products (which the company is great about repairing/replacing). I never go camping or hiking without my Zippo!Pros:- Nice matte finish. It'll stand up to scuffs and scratches, and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb.- Overall build quality is phenomenal. The hinge, reservoir, case, and everything else on my lighter are without flaw.- Made in the USA by a company that proudly backs it's product.- Cheaper here than you'd find at most tobacco shops or specialty stores.Cons:- Drop this in the grass or dirt at night and you may have some trouble finding it again if it wasn't lit.And a couple words of note after reading other reviews on here.1. Be aware that this (and any other Zippo) will be shipped WITHOUT any lighter fluid. This is not an Amazon thing or a USPS thing. These lighters are shipped from the manufacturer without fluid in them. If you go to a tobacco shop to buy this same lighter (at 50% markup or more), it will also come without fluid. Sometimes, the clerk will fill it up out of courtesy. But getting the Zippo-branded lighter fluid is cheap and easy. A small 4oz. can should last you for quite a long time.2. Expect the fluid to run out quickly the first few times you fill it up. I'm only speculating, but I think this is likely due to the material in the reservoir as well as in the wick taking a bit to thoroughly absorb the fluid. Mine usually run out within the first couple days on the first fill-up, then about a week on the secon fill-up. After that, filling the reservoir will have you set for quite awhile. The same 4oz. can mentioned above should get you through several months if you're a regular smoker, and potentially years if you only use the lighter on occasion.

I don't smoke or do anything that really requires a lighter on a day to day basis, but I do go camping, and trying to light stoves with matches when the wind is blowing is an absolute pain. So after seeing my friend's Zippo I decided to purchase one of my own.All my stuff is black, my keys, phone, wallet, etc., so I wanted a black lighter to go with it.I looked at the "black ice" Zippo but after reading the reviews it wasn't black but more of a dark gray chrome, and I didn't really want a polished/shiny Zippo either. So I found this one and it seemed to fit the bill perfectly. The finish is smooth but not at all reflective. It is so nice my friend decided to order a matte white one. (I'm not going to mention anything about the functionality of the lighter since it's been covered in all the other reviews - it works perfectly just as you would expect from a Zippo.)I ordered it and picked up some Zippo fluid at a local smoke shop (while the lighter itself is cheaper on Amazon the fluid was about twice as much). When it arrived, it arrived just like any other genuine Zippo you read about - boxed with the warranty sheet, safety stickers and all.The only thing I was worried about was the finish, but the finish has held up perfectly so far. I've over filled the lighter a couple times and lit the exterior finish on fire multiple times and my friend dropped it onto my driveway the day I got it (made me cringe, but it didn't do any damage) - the finish is still like new.Now I'm already looking to purchase a second Zippo lighter.I highly recommend any Zippo lighter if you are looking for one, and this one if you want a black one.
