I could have cried and gotten one from DIRECTV but I didnt want to go the the drama. Its cheap and if you keep loosing HD channels this is probably the culprit as it was for me. Showed up speedy quick too.

The part didn't work at all. I tested it on several receivers. I'm an 18 year Directv installer/trainer. I exhausted all options before determining the part was bad. In addition, it was dirty as if it was used.

These are the original Directv broad band converters. Necessary if you are not running a SWM modern Slimline lnb head on the dish. These converters thread on to the back of your HD receiver to allow splitting of the 99 (A&B) and 103 (A&B) HD satellites (conus A and B bands). Therefore giving you the full spectrum of transponders for all your HD channels.

I boight two of these for the new HD DVR HR24 I received from DTV to replace my HR23. It didn't come with BandB converters and my old HR23 does not need them. They work great, no issues at all. I later found out that DTV will provide them for free upon request. So now I have an extra pair. I will keep them as spares.

Unfortunately, many of the folks who fill packages for DirecTV are in the dark when it comes to understanding when one of these babies is necessary for your new receiver to get the full range of channels. Consequently, they don't pack one. If you find yourself in this situation, you will also find that it is much quicker, cheaper, and less aggravating simply to order one or more of these converters from Amazon, then to try to get relief from your customer service rep on the other side of the planet.

This certainly does its job. I rated it as I like it only because it really isn't something that I could honestly say "I love". Just for the mere fact that it is a converter.

We forgot to bring this converter on an extended camping trip. The DirecTV receiver will not work without it, so I normally keep a spare in our RV. We move the receiver from the house but try to minimize the amount of stuff we have to move back and forth! This time they were both in the house and I forgot to check! The converter was delivered in two days (prime) right to our camping space, Actually, the converter delivered is a newer model than the one shown in the pictureFor those considering a manual setup of DirecTV HD in an RV, as we have, a word of caution. The required 5 satellite dish is extremely difficult (for me anyway) to adjust, whereas the standard setup is quite simple, and DirectTV offers no assistance for RVers. .

I bought two of these. They are the newer style ones and not what was pictured in advertisement. The one pictured is the original looking one from a few years back. Units work good. Only reason to buy one of these is if you just bought an HR24 HD DVR and you do not have a SWM system either by having a SWM lnb or a SWM multiswitch. All other HD DVR's shipped with BBC's.Anyhow, bottom line these are inexpensive and a good deal. You will need to purchase 2 of them for the HR24 if you wish to use 2 tuners.
