About two years ago, I found a couple of punch needle rug kits at a thrift store — probably from the 80s, based on the cheap acrylic yarn. It looked like a fun, easy project, but the kits didn’t come with a hoop or a punch needle. At the time, the only hoop I had was an embroidery hoop, which didn’t grip the fabric tightly enough to keep it taut for punching. No big deal — I picked up a small beginner kit to test things out before investing $35 in a well-known punch needle or $20 in a proper non-slip hoop.Unfortunately, every budget-friendly option I tried was a total failure. The craft store punch needle fell apart, and the tiny starter kit I bought was a hot mess. Still, I kept seeing beautiful rugs, pillows, and other punch needle projects on social media, and that just made me want to try again even more. When I came across this set, I figured I’d give it one last shot — and I’m so glad I did.The punch needle in this kit is adjustable, so I can choose how long I want my loops to be. The included hoop actually holds the fabric well, which made punching a lot easier compared to my failed attempts with the embroidery hoop. But what I appreciated most were the instructions — both the paper insert and the printed guide on the fabric itself. They gave me clear tips on spacing and threading the needle, which made all the difference. This is my first real success after two frustrating failures, and now I finally feel confident enough to keep going with this hobby. Even though this kit doesn’t specifically say it’s for beginners, it absolutely is beginner-friendly. The hoop, the needle, and the fabric all worked together really well.I’m glad I didn’t give up — this is a well-thought-out kit, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn punch needle.

This is my first time doing embroidery. I have to admit, it was hard at first getting the hang of it.I would recommend watching a video to get a better idea of the concept. It helped me a lot.Perfect to keep the mind busy. I do this while I watch TV and it's very relaxing. Excited to see how it turns out.
