I use these to cut up plastic bottles so animals don't get their heads stuck in them. They work very well.

These things are great. I use them to clip my Nigerian dwarf goat hooves on the milking stand and these things are about sharp enough to accidentally snip off your fingers if you're not careful. They've held up decently enough (I mean, in a world meant for planned obsolescence, anyway), and I've been able to successfully use them, then store them, and then use them again, for a good while now.I'm no expert on clippers for hooves, but these have worked well for me, personally, with my small herd.

I bought 2 of these in 2021 (bc I always lay one somewhere) it is 2024 they are still sharp and work great. I have a her of 65+ they get trimmed every 3-6 months. That’s a lot of hooves. These were my starter trimmers I recommended them for beginners and pros

I never really write reviews, but these clippers are AMAZING. I have two Nigerian dwarf goats and I’ve tried at least five different clippers, all of them hurt my hands and were too big, these ones were thinner, super sharp, and my hands don’t hurt at all. Definitely get them and try them out, I love them!

The recommendation I read said these had one serrated blade to grip the hoof and one smooth blade to slice through the hoof and neatly trim. Instead it arrives with two heavy duty SMOOTH blades that are razor sharp and ready for action. Technically while serrated blades are handy for the learner or rarely ever user but this smooth thick sharp bladed model is perfect for those who have to knock out 80 hooves a day every other month. They are production quality AND THEY CAME VERY SHARP!😄The angled blades are cushioned and comfortable and easy to shift from right to left hand as needed. The last thing different from the consumer review (which rated these as #1 best quality and usefulness) was that they complained that the wire loop that is attached through a hole in the handle end for keeping the trimmers closed when not in use (because they are sharp) constantly slipped over the handles locking them closed every time they squeezed to cut! Annoying, right? NOT SO! The manufacturer listened to the reviewers and removed this loop! It does not come with a loop! This is fine because everyone who uses these more than once will take a piece of leather and sew or rivet together a holster with a loop for their belt! It’s a no brainer to keep them from falling in the dirt, snow and mud every time you set them down to grab up another sheep or goat! It’s a 10 minute project that will last for years of great use! Finally, most important the angled blades are not pointed but come to a rounded point..not sharp on the tip so that they can serve double duty to scrape detritus out of the impacted area between the cleat soles. These are great clippers, they stay sharp for the whole day and they are comfortable and practical. Your animal hates the buzzing and grinding of those $400 grinding tools that vibrate their hoofs, terrify them and takes twice as long so you don’t want to use those anyways! So do yourself a solid and buy these clippers and save your time, money and animal’s feet!

This is working well after using it for a couple years now. We don't have a lot of hooves to trim, so if you have to do a whole herd of goats, not sure how well it would stay sharp. So far it's trimmed the hooves well of the goats we've had. Easy for my teenager to use. I'm sure you could buy a more expensive trimmer but if you're only using it once in a while like we are- it's fine.

The long term review would of course be far more valuable than merely having the product for the two weeks like we have. We bought them to clip our Katahdin Sheep's hooves. And for that they worked perfectly. We gave them 5 stars as they appear to be well built, and look like they will last a while. They fit comfrotably in both bigger and smaller hands which is nice of course. Looking at the spring in the image we were a little worried, but upon receipt it was pretty clear that the product is well made, and the spring is in there tightly, with little chance of falling out. We tried them out of plants, and thick cardboard before heading out to the sheep, and no problems, cut cleanly through everything that we put them up against. We didn't put them through a torcher test, just cut things they were designed to cut.So long as they last a couple of years which they should, we will most certainly buy them again if available. Great product at a good price.

I have owned goats for about eight years, and have always trimmed their hooves myself. I started off with an old pair of Italian hoof rot shears, and they were horrible. They hurt my hands, and crunched painfully through the hard parts of the hoof. They wouldn't even cut the sole or heel of the hoof, unless I cut so deep that they actually cut the goat and drew blood. Finally, I decided that this was ridiculous, and bought these hoof trimmers. These trimmers are GREAT! They are sharp and a perfect size; fitting comfortably in my hand, and just the perfect size to get the job done. No more do I have to wear gloves when trimming to protect my hands from being blistered within five minutes of starting. Now my goats' feet are smooth and level when I am finished trimming, instead of jagged and cut. These trimmers help me keep my goats in good physical condition, and to the best of my ability, I will never again be without them. To keep trimmers in good shape though, make sure you brush out the goat's hoof to remove sand and stones, as these will dull the trimmers.I have also used these on bushes, and they work great for those too! Here is a YouTube how-to video of me trimming one of my goat's feet with these trimmers: [...]How to trim a goat's hooves:1. Secure the goat in a stanchion, or pin it against a wall and straddle its back with your legs to restrain it as much as possible. You don't want it jerking around, as this can be dangerous to you and the goat (remember, you will be using a sharp pair of trimmers!)2. Pick up a foot (front or hind, it doesn't matter which) and brush it off with a stiff bristle brush to remove dirt, hair, manure, stones, and other debris. These are not only unpleasant to work around, but they dull your hoof trimmers.3. Trim the sides (hoof wall) by small snips down to the level of the sole (soft part of the hoof).4. Lightly trim the heel if necessary, so that the whole hoof is level, uniform, and balanced.5. Repeat steps 2-4 for all hooves.6. Release goat, give her a treat, scratch her neck, and put her in the pasture before she gets into trouble, or you get the next goat.Farm website: [...]
