Purchased to make a portable shuffleboard scoring system.Pros: 1) Mounting hardware included, 2) The number and arrangement of scoring beads can be adjusted, 3) All scoring beads slide easily, 4) Appearance.Cons: A) Poor fit on some of the trim caps that cover the screws, B) This item painted and not stained, thus with heavy use the paint may wear off or chip.Neutral, but buyers should be aware: 1) The abacus must be mounted prior to use. 2) Mounting surface must be ¾ of an inch thick, or the supplied mounting screws will stick out through the bottom.I play shuffleboard at my local pub and the electronic scoreboard is not reliable. This abacus was purchased to make a portable scoring system. A photo of the final system is included with this review. The total assembly time to mount the rails was less than 10 minutes.Prior to mounting the rails, it is easy to adjust the number and order of the slide color to fit your preference. I reduced the number of slides and put them in the color order I prefer. Once that was done, it was time to mount the rails on my boardThe abacus rails were easy to mount using the hardware included. The screws are long enough to provide a sturdy mount, but if mounted on anything less than a ¾ inch thick surface, the tips will stick out through the bottom. I chose a board that was 4 X ¾ and did not have any problems mounting the system. Mounting with a screw gun took less than 2 minutes.Like other users, I found the trim caps did not fit the screw holes well. Two were of perfect size, one fell into the hole, and one had to be trimmed down to fit. Tapping them with a rubber mallet seated the three that were not too small. If you want perfect caps, you can visit your local hardware store and purchase matching wood or rubber caps for a few dollars. My scoreboard will be used at a pub, so I am not concerned about minor appearance issues and will live with a poor fit. Installing the caps and adjusting the one that was oversize took less than 3 minutes. To make my scoreboard easy to carry, I added a screen door handle. In less than 10 minutes the abacus was mounted and ready to use. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is the poor fitting trim caps. For the price, I am totally satisfied.

I use this for my home gym to keep track of sets. Works great. A half inch board is slightly too thin.

Functional, but plugs for ends didn’t fit on the black side (fell right into whole). Now looks weird and inconsistent with the other side.

Nice design but some defects. Some of the counters were difficult to move on the rods, probably due to humidity changes. I had to run a drill through the holes so they will slide freely. Tapered wood plugs were included for covering the scree holes. Two were perfect and two were too small and fell to the botton of the holes.
