I Used to be able to use a box cutter knife to hold the detent pin in while sliding the take-down pin into place. Can't seem to pull that off any more, and this is so much easier.

This tool will make your life easier on an AR Lower build. I used to install the front takedown pin with the lower in a clear plastic bag. I did this just in case the pin slipped and the spring shot out, it could be recovered easily. Of course, now with this tool, no need for that. It holds the pin so it can't slip out of alignment. Great tool.
