There are rules in fishing. Use this color blade if its sunny. Use that color jig if the water is murky. Rig the worm in this fashion if the rocks are piled this way. There are lots of rules in fishing and I just don't know any of them. I do, however, know that this color hellgrammite and yum dinger land more fish than when I'm using any other color. Sunny with clear water, cloudy in dark water, whatever. I've caught fish smaller than the lure itself up to 20+ pound carp on the same hellgrammite without it tearing. The material Yum uses stretches and deals with re-hooking well.

I started fishing this summer, mostly creeks around middle TN, and these quickly became my go to lure for catching bass and even sunfish. I rig them texas weedless with a 1/0 or 2/0 offset hook. I've purchased all the colors but the bubblegum swirl and mud fleck seem to be the most consistent for my location.

I'm only reviewing this color, but I have used 5 different colors and they all catch fish. I have caught largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill so far. my technique of choice is on a 1/32 0r 1/16 widegap jig head with the lure set up weedless. I have fished it on a slow roll over grass, bouncing on the bottom, and yoyoing in the mid water column. The only negative is the plastic is soft and not very durable but they catch fish. They really perform well in clear water and don't seem to spook heavily pressured fish. If you like finesse fishing, you need these soft plastics in your bag.

This will catch you some fish, and it looks good but unfortunately the material used rips very easily and not much scent compared to powerbait plastics.

YUM! Is know for making quality products at an affordable price. This product is no different!I've only used the copper color for my recent fishing activities because it is nothing short of "redfish candy!" I've had this bait caught in grass, was reeling it in to get the "salad" off the lure, and massive red drums come up still straight at the boat and hit the bait.I find this particularly fascinating as since my area of Florida is not known for hellgrammites. Very little in the waters resemble such a creature. Yet, big fish want this bait!Unlike the major brand competitor in this class of baits, The YUM! hellgrammite isn't a tenth as durable. It easily rips and breaks. This means you'll easily lose a bait for every 2-3 catches whereas the #1 competitor will easily let you catch 10-20 fish per bait. This means, to catch the same amount of fish, you are spending $2 on the competitor vs $2.50-$3 on the YUM! (not to mention the relying time lost). So, while it may seem cheaper on the front end, it is actually more expensive to use on the back end.As far as realistic...these things are freaky! In the bag, I am addicted to pushing them around and watching their legs move like live bugs. My wife even was playing with them in the bag!The #1 competitor is floaty. That means you need heavy weights and large hooks to weight it down. The fact the competitor is made with a rubber-like compound also means it is extremely difficult to rig. The YUM! hellgrammite is different in that it is more neutral in buoyancy. This means, even with weights and hooks, I can work it on top water or the bottom with equal ease. Again, durability is a problem because more weights and such inserted into the bait means more breaking points.This bait is also very thin. While not the thinnest hellgrammite bait on the market, it does make it difficult to use weight and float inserts.You also have to be careful of the hook position and type because of the shape of this bait. Many anglers lose fish because of hook choice and hook placement because this style of bait is so problematic and deserving of a specialty hook that's yet to be created and sold in the marketplace.All-in-all, this is a fantastic bait! Buy 2 or more packs because you'll go through them quickly in a fishing trip. I hope the manufacturer will consider one day beefing up their soft plastics formula to make this bait more durable.

The small and large mouth bass here in Idaho absolutely smash these baits. Rig it how you want but rolling with a ned rig works fantastic. They have a nice shimmer and hold up well after multiple bites and catches
