The YSI Pro20 instrument is a handheld dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature meter with graphical backlit display, glow-in-the-dark keypad, rubber over-mold case, military standard connectors, and One Touch Cal feature that calibrates the meter within three seconds. It has on-screen instructions and a selectable language of English, Spanish, French, or German, can store 50 data sets, and has an internal barometer to ensure accuracy. The response time is 95% response in eight seconds with a standard membrane. The meter runs on two alkaline C-cell batteries (included) and is impact-resistant and waterproof, with Ingress Protection 67 (IP67). Additional certifications include Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), European Conformity (CE), and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).
The meter is designed for field and laboratory use and is compatible with two different cables. (Cables and probes are sold separately.) The field cable is available in various lengths and has a built-in temperature sensor and a port for the DO sensor (polarographic or galvanic). The ProBOD, a 1m probe/cable assembly designed for lab use, has built-in polarographic DO and temperature sensors, has an AC-powered motor for sample stirring, and fits into a 300mL biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) bottle. DO meters are commonly used in water-quality testing applications.

.Dissolved oxygen (DO) meters measure the amount of dissolved oxygen present in water. The amount of DO helps to determine, for example, drinking water quality, the health of lakes or streams, and aquatic organism sustainability. A probe, also called a sensor or electrode, is inserted into the sample to perform the measurement, and the results appear on the meter display. Applications include sewage and water treatment plants, pollution control, fish farms, and various types of manufacturing.

These work well, when they work. We are on number five, with two of them junked. In our humid work environment, every one of them has had moisture intrusion. Have sent two back for moisture intrusion, one was repaired under warranty, the other was refused warranty. I was offered a replacement at several hundred dollars over the street price.Buyer beware: if you are in a humid environment, you WILL have moisture inside the LED readout area, and the warranty service is spotty.

Maybe mention on the product page somewhere obvious that the meter doesn't come with anything to actually measure dissolved oxygen with. Meter only should be in the title not in the fine print. Probes sold separately.

When I turned it on and tested the equipment for the first time the screen lit up but there were no numbers or signs in the screen. The sound works, but the screen does not show anything. Trying to figure out how to apply the warranty but there is still not a response.
