  • Application: Works for all LS series engines - 4.8 5.3 5.7 6.0 LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 L99 LS4 LS9 LSA LQ4 LQ9 L76 L92.
  • Function: Helps align the front and rear engine covers to make sure the cover is centered. A centered cover means less of a chance for a seal to leak.
  • Nice Design: Cover Alignment Tool mimics the balancer to center the cover on the front seal OR locates on the ID of the seal bore in the cover without the seal installed; The Oil Pan Alignment Tool mimics the oil pan thus providing critical alignment of the oil pan and front cover.
  • Please Note: For LS engine, the oil pan is a stressed member and adds to block rigidity. Due to this reason, it can't simply be slapped in place, you will have to aligned the cover to the oil pan carefully.
  • Superior Material: Crafted from Billet aluminum & Quality steel with great durability and tight tolerances for a perfect alignment. Perfect for engine builders and mechanic to replace the front or rear main seal for GM LS series engine.

I purchased this as I have a leaking rear main seal and I intend to do them in the future. I have a friend that works at a dealership and offered me the tool to do it, and I got this instead. When I tried to put this in the rear cover while on the engine it would not fit. Come to find out it is not machined perfectly. One side was about. 01 thicker than the other side (about 3 sheets of paper). I actually intended on returning it at this point, but come to find out, that made me want it more. After turning it I was able to get it to fit. I then lightly turned the bottom bolts and I was able to turn it all the way around without force. Being out of round got me thinking. I could use it to check my crankshaft flange to see if it was out of round (one of my concerns in the cause of the leak. I marked the thick area and set the cover so that I was getting friction at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock area. I put a couple bolts in my flex plate and turned it over by hand 180 degrees. I used the out of round hub to see if I had friction between 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, and sure enough I did. That told me my crank flange was round. I then aligned the cover with the hub until it was exactly in the middle. I checked this my rotating the hub 90 degrees in all directions until the play was even all the way around. I then used the install tool to press the seal in my buddy let me borrow. I'm the end I was real happy with the way this worked and I will be using it well in the future.

5 stars all the way just what a great set of CNC Machined alignment tools that I can use over & over again for many years to come. There are no instructions but you can either figure it out on your own or go online & watch a you tube video.Very easy to use as well as a huge time saver along with a lot less headache. I used this to rebuild a 5.3 liter LS7 Chevy truck engine & this tool will also work on the 4.8L & 6.0 L Chevy LS Engines. Thanks,DJE
