How to Get Hard Floor Mats to Lay Flat?
Curl and Press the mat in the opposite direction to loosen the curl after opening the package, and then lay the inwardly rolled side toward the floor. If it is still a little curled, refer to the methods below.
A: Use a hairdryer to slightly heat it up, the mat will gradually flatten.
B: Lay it flat the rolled side down, add weight on top of the mat. It will gradually flatten in 1-2 days.
C: Submerge it in warm water for a little while or expose it under the sun for hours until it lattens.

The mat arrives rolled up for efficient shipping, so you need to roll it in the opposite direction to remove the curves. Once you get it flat enough to lay flat on the floor with the weight of the chair on top, it will lay completely flat.On laminate wood flooring, the mat does not slip. It feels like it is made out of a plastic or silicone material that is a little soft and almost sticks to the floor. Maybe if the floor was made of glass and covered with water, then the mat would slide. But on normal flooring, I don't see any slippage.The mat is also thick and strong. My stupid chair has feet that gouge into the flooring, causing physical damage when sitting down. This mat protects the floor and resists damage to the mat from the chair.

The mat is not hard plastic, but rolled up plastic. It works ok, but you need have it on a hardwood surface and "break it in'. It curls up around the edges, especially when you roll the chair onto it from the bare floor.I would suggest looking at another brand, but It is ok for the price.

Although I have not had a problem with it sliding around like some have reported, it has not flattened out in just short of 3 weeks time. My chair is rolling around on it daily, and it is protecting the floor, but it is still very curled, especially at the two opposite edges. I placed it with the curled edges to the floor so it hasn't been a trip hazard but it should be lying flat by now. I used a hair dryer as suggested the day I put it down, to the point that I was afraid I'd start melting the plastic, but it has not flattened. if not for that I would have given it a 5 star rating. It is very clear and does protect the floor. Not sure if I'm keeping it or not but need to decide since I'm approaching the return deadline.

Mat is completely clear so that floor shows through it true to color. It comes in a tight roll but unrolls easily. I placed some heavy books on the edges and left them overnight. Next day mat was flat. A very good value for the money. I read another review that says it slips on the floor. It does slip a little but is easily moved. I think any mat on a hard surface floor would probably slip a little. It's not like the carpet mats that have those grippers. I like this mat and feel it will serve my needs for some time. I recommend it.
