I should have realized when I saw the size of the ones installed on my AC that I wanted to replace with these that no one uses the M3 size. They are too small to work with: nut drivers won't fit over the bolts as they are too close together, and although I have a 7mm hex wrench, it takes an hour to tighten anything down as the bolts are too close together to allow you to turn each bolt more than 1/8th turn before removing and reapplying the wrench.The M5 works fine to join two stripped 1/4" cables. Way easier to work with. Both sizes are high quality but you'll be happier with the M5.

These little guys work very well on any cable rope that you have they will hold it

Nuts are so close together that the socket cannot fit onto the nut because the other nut is in the way. Makes it almost impossible to tighten. Terrible design choice. 7mm nuts are also an odd size. A 1/4 nut is typical.
