Wow, wow, wow. This is a professional instrument that you never ever can judge by the price. Sound is beautiful and pleasant and easy to play. The design is gorgeous. The case is not bad but could be better.

I am a beginner horn player getting back into music later in life (52yo). My main interest is the cornet but received a Tromba Flugel for X-mas a couple of years ago. Fell in love with the flugel but the Tromba certainly had it's drawbacks and was quite difficult to play. After a year of research, looking for the best deal on a proper brass flugel I decided to go with this Yamaha model. Immediately found this to be worth every penny paid. The tone is beautiful with an ease of playing. First thing I did was attach a tuner and got nothing but green lights all the way throughout my range.If you do your research you will find that the Yamaha flugelhorns are preferred over the Bach-Strads. The bore size is slightly larger providing a richer tone. Replacement parts are easily found online and affordable.This is not an inexpensive horn, and the price certainly was a bit painful. But with proper care this will last me till I'm too old to play. If you are serious about playing the flugelhorn this is the horn to get.

I play trumpet. This is the first time I have tried the flugelhorn. I like it.
