About this item

  • 3-Zone (Edge, Bow and Cup)
  • Cymbal "choke" capability
  • Accurately responds to subtle differences in dynamics

Electronic 10" cymbal pad, 3-zone. The PCY100 consists of 3 separate zones, an edge zone, a bow zone, and a cup zone. This enables the pad to recreate the unique sounds that are produced when you hit different parts of a cymbal. The pad responds accurately to subtle differences in dynamics during performance and can faithfully reproduce delicate cymbal playing, powerful hits, and choking. Also, cymbal swinging and stick bouncing are reproduced realistically so that the pad feels natural even for drummers who normally perform on acoustic drums.

This replacement cymbal is perfect for any Yamaha brand digital drum set. it can adapt easily and avoids major costs in repair for damaged cymbals.

I bought this cymbal as 2nd crash for a set that came with only one crash, but had input on module. I would have gotten a larger one, but i wanted to match size of 1st. This cymbal is easy to mount, hook up, and use. I found all 3 zones easy to find with a big enough area to hit, when desired, while playing. The provided hardware and cable were good quality. The cable was 10 foot.

I love my Yamaha drum kit. However, this cymbal pad has been a little disappointing. Even with sensitivity on highest setting, the beats are not triggered consistently. I thought it would improve over time, but, it has now been months with no improvement. If I had it to do over, I'd stick with a stock single zone pad and forfeit the ride bell.

It should be noted that with this pad Yamaha's method of providing multiple zones is apparently proprietary, and different from Roland's, etc.. With a non-Yamaha brain, this 3 zone pad is a one zone, non-chokeable pad.

First off I got this from Amazon fromSold by Woodwind and Brasswind , These guys are fantastic , they ship Mega Fast , and for Free . Thank YouNow the on to the PCY100 . I cant give it 5 , because of two things . the shape is ODD , this thing will trip you out when you open the box , if you have never seen one. its basically FLAT . I am not playing with you LOL. the Cup is sort of small . it looks big in the image , but its not as big as you think going buy the image . the overall shape is trippy , you have this small cup, a FLAT Bow section and a kind of flared edge not as much as a china. but in that kind of general shape but on a small scale. I don't know what they were trying to imitate, but not a classic Cymbal shape. .ok , now the next thing is sensitivity and comparison to the only thing I am use to which are real cymbals, since I have Played acoustic drums for decades (yea ole fart talking here) I have had Paiste Zildjian, Sabian over the years , the feel is not there since its Rubber . so you don't get that metal bounce , You have to use your wrist muscles more for controlled patterns.so there not real. ok now keeping all relative to Yamaha electronic drums. the feel is the same as the other pads . so that's coolnow the point that has some merit besides the Flat Bow (still tripping on that)the Cup section has some issue with sensitivity for now I have cranked the gain , which unfortunately effects the other 2 sections as well. so I went back and adjusted the volume levels on the those two voices . along with the cup. to get a more realistic level to real cymbals. playing at the various parts of the cymbal. also mentally adjusting my strike to compensate as well.the biggest oddity is if you almost flat strike the cymbal in certain way, contacting the Cup area and the Bow Flat section. your Cup (or bell they way I like to call it) will actually sound off much louder , allot louder . this is weird. maybe its a special feature.anyway You have to get a 3 zone , because you can do so much more . actually more then real cymbals. here is one. set your Cup and Bow to say a ride cymbal with voices being what they would be logically like bright 20 cup and bright 20. then. set your Edge to a 17 bright crash . I like that setup. now you can have two totally usable cymbals for the price of one. I dig it.all in all toke me about 30 minutes to dial in and get use to oddities. so its doable. No Huge deal. You gotta have it.anyway if you ask me to buy this again ? Yea because I need a 3 zone . will I maybe buy the 135 or 155 , possibly if they don't have this funky FLAT Bow LOL. :)should Yamaha Magic engineers come out with another design? You bet add something to get a more Metal feel , loose that funny FLAT section. adjust the Cup shape higher (more proud) also get the CUP section more sensitive and get rid of that oddity were if stroke a certain way the bell gets very loud. or have that as option the user can kill.anyway if you only have single zone or dual zone , I think you have to buy this . and get it From Woodwind and Brasswind there wicked fast on shipping.hope helps.oh the kind of music I play, Old stuff like RUSH Van Halen, Def Leppard and Little Feet. gives a clue to the style a play.

Solid. I purchased this as an upgrade for my DTX-500 set (using it as a hi-hat replacement). It's working well.
