Is this a little silly? Yes, but is it cute? also yes. After I took down my Christmas tree early January, I was bummed because that corner no longer had a nice warm glow. I thought hey I wonder if they make a little fake fire place? Sure enough they do, it adds the perfect little warm glow that I wanted in that corner. I have it set to come on every night at the same time, just adjusted it for the longer days and I love it.I have it plugged into the socket to the right of the photo, so I cannot speak to the battery life.To address other review commentsIs it plastic? Yes. But it’s still cute.Does it make a low buzzy kinda mechanical noise? yes, but across my tiny living room, it does not bother me in the least, and I can only hear it if I sitting in absolute silence.

I bought this for my infant’s bedroom to add some ambience for late night feeds and it works great. Even though there’s no heat emitted , which makes it safer, it’s perfect for what you need it for.

I send this little battery operated fireplace to my son in college as a funny winter gift. They have a small sitting room attached to their double, so it’s more of a living/tv room. I sent this to him with batteries, and I got a text the day it arrived with a big thank you. Him and his roommate loved it!

This song to Joan works on batteries not what I expected and not what it said plus you got to have a USB to get the flames even going in it so it's a hunk of junk

So cute I got one for my sister too. It’s quiet unless you put your ear up right next to it. It will be so much fun to decorate for Christmas. The quality seems pretty good. I haven’t opened the battery compartment yet, just using USB. That’s one way to avoid the problem of turning it over to access the power switch; just unplug it. Also, there’s a timer function. The flames look realistic since they’re made by reflection instead of backlight—clever! Makes me feel warm & cozy just watching it.

My office friends love it, I love it, my kid loves it! So fun! I thought it was going to be smaller like a small kleenex box, it's actually two rectangular kleenex boxes stacked wide and tall. Portable for office or even your car! Ambiance in a car! :) Pretty solid. Fun purchase!

This thing is cool and I always get compliments on it at my desk at work. But I made the mistake of leaving it on the timer feature and the batteries drained so fast I had to change them in less than 2 days. Do yourself a favor and just switch on and off as needed

I love mine! First one was slightly damaged but was easily fixed with glue- can't see the crack and works beautifully- so I gave to a friend😉. I ordered another one to try again for myself and it was perfect. Tried a third time and it was too damaged to fix which was disappointing but the return was easy and my refund was quick. If you get one damaged it appears to always be the same spot, top corner. So if you're patient on getting a good one that works you'll love it. Mine is on my desk at work and is a big hit in the office.
