Used this extension for my router twice and today it broke when I started up my router. Thankfully, I didn’t get injured. I do not recommend this product!

When I bought this item there weren't any reviews - but like everyone else who has bought this item, I've had some pretty serious issues. There appears to be a design or manufacturing fault that results in the torque of the router causing the extension bit to fatigue over time and bend. In my case I was flattening some very soft wood when the extension bit bent and shot the bit through the safety screen - thankfully very narrowly missing my crotch. If you've already had kids give it a whirl, if not, reconsider.

This extension works just fine if you know your router…read your manual…I have a 2.25hp router that is variable speed from 12000-25000 rpm…in my manual as the diameter of the bit is larger the rpm need to be lowered…i use a 2” surfacing bit and have my rpms at 12000-15000 and have no issues when making a 1/16” or 1/8” swipe to flatten a slab…

Well made garbage is still garbage. Rattles and shakes as soon as router is turned on. It will almost certainly damage the router, the wood, or the operator, or all three.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT if you value your body or the wood or your router; if you are lucky you will only almost damage them.

Important. Before purchasing, please note that this and any other extender will not be able to withstand a certain RPM.15000 seems like the sweet spot for bits that are equal diameter to the collet extender. Anything that extends beyond that should be scaled down. For a router flattening bit I use, I scale it down to 12000 and try to take shallow passes. 1/4 of the router depth is as much as I would try.You must fully insert the extender into the base of the router. Otherwise you run a high risk of bending the extender shank.Other than the limitations, it functions as j would expect. If you find anything more expensive like the amana tools version at best what you are buying is something that can handle a higher RPM, but do not expect it to handle very high RPMs.

Looks great but once I finally went to use it I notice the shank is bent and I see the short return window is already gone. So paperweight?
